I wasn't expecting a constellation of unfamiliar error messages this morning!  Normally the Virtual Classroom functions smoothly ... but sometimes there are server issues or other glitches.  I sent an email to the District Y Latin Family and the teacher who "supervises" them; tried a few things on my end; and, remarkably enough, was able to log in and conduct a more-or-less normal, almost full-length class despite the glitches.

That got me thinking about distance and perspective ... because if the equivalent thing had happened to poor Ms. X or Mr. Y, or even to me in my days at Former School, our first response would have been some combination of rage and terror!   Why is that, I wondered ... and as I thought about it, this blog post began to take shape.
