One of the best parts of my job is learning more about the people with whom I work, or are hiring. I recently wrote an article about building great teams, but I wanted to delve a little deeper and answer my top 9 questions myself.

Watch this video, but be sure to read the article here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/how-build-great-creative-team-justin-schuck

I just wanted to extend a message of immense gratitude to my friends, family, and professional network for really stepping up and helping to support my beloved Jacob's mom in her time of grief and need. Thank you.

Here's the message from Stacie:

"I am going to try to express my gratitude for helping my family through this process. I am truly grateful for all of your support. I have seen so much love and support from family & friends of course. The truly amazing thing is the strangers who stepped into my world. Who wrapped their arms around us as well. My son was a light who shined into anyone he met. He loved to smile and to make you smile. He laughed and made you laugh. If you knew him you know he would want you to smile, laugh, and love. So raise your glass, and remember the fun times.

Thank you all so much.
Stacie and Joshua"

Last week I lost someone so important and close to me. One of the greatest loves I have ever known. His sudden passing is so inexplicable in so many ways, my heart just aches, and will for some time. But I'm also so incredibly THANKFUL for the time we had together, the memories we shared, the laughs we laughed. His Devilish smile lit up my heart.

I know this feeling will pass, but there's a part of me that will always miss him. I just wanted to share a few photos from our time together. Jacob Ferrer was a kind, sweet, old soul.

Help his mom bring Jacob home:

I am so thankful for my may friends who've helped to support Jacob's mom in this incredibly time of sorrow and loss.

To anyone reading this, please help with anything you can. No mother should have to struggle to bury her baby.

As I end this year in a state of healing, as well as unexpected mourning, I'm reminded of the literally thousands of smiles I've shared this year, the blessings of good and true friends, and the incredible encouragement and support I've been lucky enough to receive.

I'm hopeful for a rocktacular 2017—building on the foundation I rebuilt in 2016. I aim to be more thankful, for everything—and everyone—in my life. To be thankful FOR my life and my health. And, to care better for it.

So, my sincere hope for everyone is that we smile through all the tears and trials 2017 will inevitably bring, and I hope we can all be present enough to acknowledge and appreciate the beautiful souls who cross our path.

We may be just caterpillars, and they are already butterflies, but one day we will all be happy butterflies together, floating and transformed. It's not fair for us caterpillars to keep the butterflies from sharing their beauty with the universe.

Jacob, I love you kiddo. Thank you for being a butterfly to my caterpillar, and thank you for saving my life. Thank you for pushing me hard to be the person I needed to return to being. Thank you.

"In masks outrageous and austere,
The years go by in single file;
But none has merited my fear,
And none has quite escaped my smile."
-Elinor Wylie
