This is why I'm not Alex Lloyd:
I’ve never been swarmed by thousands of angry bees, but I guess this must be what it’s like. A brief glance in my rear-view mirror tells a scary tale. They’re everywhere. I look at the speedometer. It reads 130 mph – on a treacherous mountain pass, no less. Speed limits? There are none. This is “Mad Sunday” during the Isle of Man TT. A time for mere mortals to venture onto the 37.7-mile course, likely hung-over, aboard two-wheeled missiles capabl...

Alex Lloyd is a bit of a dick head!
His piece is littered with inaccuracies and exagerations.
If it was so dangerous the go out on Mad Sunday, why the hell did he do exactly that?
It's not like he did'nt know, he used to bloody live here.
I think he is drumming up as much publicity as he can get, the driver contracts will be out soon and prehaps he is out of a drive?
The fact that his writings have done exactly the opposite to what he intended is good too, if you read the comments people can't wait to get over here, so that for that much thanks!
I just hope we can live up to the reputation he has painted, it's unlikely but I am sure everyone will be impressed with what they really get.

Uncle Tupelo does St. Louis local cable access in 1989. Sweet lord in the morning this feels ancient:

I am 26.  I was one year old in 1989.  I discovered Uncle Tupelo when I was at the hospital with my friend, as she was having a mental breakdown.  I was reading Wikipedia and they were the featured article.  I was interested in the 90s "Alternative Rock" since, well, the 90s.  But I had never been much of a country person, but I saw the term "Alternative Country" as the band's description, listened decided I liked them

I went down to the National Mall today for the Historic Vehicle Association's mini show. Apologies for the terrible pics from a previous-gen iPhone.

I would drive this, if only to see how they built the rear window/roof:
No, this is not coming soon to a Nissan dealer near you. "Sparky," as it is known around the Nissan Technical Center in Stanfield, Ariz., was not destined for any auto shows or production. Rather, it's the result of some creative thinking by employees who wanted to flex their building skills and answer the question: Just what would a Nissan Leaf pickup look like anyway?

Karting notes:
1. I like electric carts better than gas ones.
2. That maybe because when I'm cornering it seems like it takes the gas carts forever to hook up.
2a. Or that I'm not very good at cornering in a kart.
3. I learned that between slick concrete and changing karts every session it would take me a week to really learn even a 26-second track.
4. Tanner Foust and Scott Speed can make karting look easy — and yet one of the regulars at the kart place in Virginia outpaced even them today.

Here's the list: SK means they had superkarts; Speed is Pete Mitchell (get it?) and Foust was Tdog. http://www.allsportsgp.com/indoor-kart-racing-laptimes/best-day/

One of the tricks of driving a petrol kart is trying to minimise the bog coming out of corners.

There's a sweet-spot between wheel-spin losing speed, and low rpm losing speed that you can find.

I tried to cut this video so you could hear as much of this car as possible, me gusta.
It would be a bald-faced lie to tell you that the promise of driving Ferrari's LaFerrari didn’t make this professional supercar sampler nervous as hell. I've done deep testing on every Koenigsegg, various Bugatti Veyrons, and each model crafted by Pagani, and yet the bottoms of my feet filled with sweat and my fingers fumbled as I reach to open the swan door of “the” Ferrari, at the hallowed test track of Fiorano not far from Maranello HQ.

Today's junkyard mystery: See if you can spot the $90,000 in damage claimed by the salvage yard for this 2014 California with 430 miles. (Yes, it's on a salvage title.)

Is it $90,000 in ego damage that caused the airbags to deploy?

I don't even know what to say about this:
rare vega sedan delivery. this is not a converted station wagon. 327 small block, th 400 trans, 7.625 s10 disc brake rear, s10 dropped spindles and brakes on the front. nice body, interior look good, very old school car. American torque thrust 16x7, and 16x8 wheels, linelock installed, ...

I am going to waste a lot of time on these:
Long after television grew to dominate American and British homes, newsreel producer British Pathé kept at it, documenting the news of the day until finally ceasing production of new short films in 1970 after 60 years of effort. Last week, all of British Pathé's 85,000 films were put online — including dozens of fascinating, rare and often weird car films that resemble nothing so much as a jet-age Top Gear.
