by adding a code snippet to a webpage that links page to your google+ profile, you can declare yourself the author of that page. then, in google search results, it'll say "by Justin Huang" with a link to my g+ page and an option to add me to circles.

but what if the website allows user-generated content with anchor tags? for example, some blog software let you include a limited subset of html in your comments, and that usually includes the <a> tag. couldn't i just put a rel=author in that, link to that blog post in my google+ profile, and then be considered the "author" of that page by google?
