Orbiter Photographs Curiosity on Supersonic Parachute!

HiRISE (The High-Resolution Imaging Science Experiment), one of six instruments on NASA's MRO (Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter), photographed this image of Curiosity during her landing on Mars. The University of Arizona, Tucson, operates the orbiter's HiRISE camera.

In this hi-res photo, Curiosity is seen descending toward the etched plains just north of the sand dunes that fringe Aeolis Mons ("Mt. Sharp").
