Science #crowdfunding is only at the beginning of its story. It's more than only an "(un)orthodox" funding (the money is coming from citizens in both cases directly or through taxes) by opening the Ivory towers of academia and then creating a wonderful link with bakers, which are citizens, science lovers, citizen scientists, patients... People wants to help research and to feel involved in it. Dedicated crowdfunding platforms to scientific research (Experiment, +Crowd.Science +Consano - Hope Honor Heal .... around 30) is a nice way to concentrate the focus of the support.
