I recently bought a Flir One device and found it very useful to find bad cables and connectors on my 3D printer.
In this case the connector was so hot it started to melt!
This Dupont cable was used to power a NEMA 17 motor. I really need to buy better cables and connectors!

First they laughed and said there was no way he could last long in the party race
Then they laughed and said there was no way he could be a serious contender in any state
Then they laughed and said there was no way he would win in any state
Then they laughed and said there was no way he would be the party nominee
Then they laughed and said there was no way he would be elected president
Then they laughed and said there was no way he won't be impeached
Then they laughed and said there was no way he would win the second term
Then they laughed and said there was no way he'd manage to abolish the 22nd amendment
Then one by one they stopped laughing and started erecting statues and obelisks in his liking at every city square

Now we're talking!
This is not just words, amazing current development state:
https://www.tesla.com/videos/full-self-driving-hardware-all-teslas

"When searching for parking, the car reads the signs to see if it is allowed to park there, which is why it skipped the disabled spot"

"When you want your car to return, tap Summon on your phone. It will eventually find you even if you are on the other side of the country"

This is possible thanks to automatic charging, cf Tesla website:
"For Superchargers that have automatic charge connection enabled, you will not even need to plug in your vehicle."
" We are excited to announce that, as of today, all Tesla vehicles produced in our factory – including Model 3 – will have the hardware needed for full self-driving capability at a safety level substantially greater than that of a human driver. Eight surround cameras provide 360 degree visibility around the car at up to 250 meters of range. Twelve updated ultrasonic sensors complement this vision, allowing for detection of both hard and soft objects at nearly twice the distance of the prior system. A forward-facing radar with enhanced processing provides additional data about the world on a redundant wavelength, capable of seeing through heavy rain, fog, dust and even the car ahead. "

Inspiring interview... as always!

Reminds me of this xkcd:

Elon Musk : How to Build the Future

People sometimes think technology just automatically gets better every year but actually it doesn't. It only gets better if smart people work like crazy to make it better. That's how any technology actually gets better. By itself, technology, if people don't work at it, actually will decline. Look at the history of civilizations, many civilizations. Look at, say, ancient Egypt, where they were able to build these incredible pyramids and then they basically forgot how to build pyramids. And even hieroglyphics. They forgot how to read hieroglyphics. Or if you look at Rome and how they were able to build these incredible roadways and aqueducts and indoor plumbing, they forgot how to do all of those things. There are many such examples in history. So I think we should always bear in mind that entropy is not on your side.

Who's in to make a new Chrome extension?
A little exercise to keep you entertained til November. Every time the presidential candidate from a certain party (or any of their supporters) say something with "politically correct" in it, do a quick replace with "being decent to others".

For example, "I'm sick and tired of being politically correct all the time" becomes "I'm sick and tired of being decent to others all the time".

"It's time to stop being politically correct. We need to get things back to the way they used to be" becomes "It's time to stop being decent to each other. We need to get things back to the way they used to be".

You get the drift of it, I hope.
