I received a "Two Star" review on Amazon for not going deeper into discussing real estate in my book..which is funny since I get paid to write real estate related copy for Realtors and mortgage professionals! So, I took the criticism to heart and am doing something about it...

Please share with folks who have been considering a move to Hawaii or dreaming about doing so..from over researching to losing faith, I think I nailed it with some my tips!
I have seen MANY people try and compare the cost of living in Hawaii to where they live. Stop. It's not the same. Sorry. It is VERY expensive to live in Hawaii, especially if you think you are going to try and have the same lifestyle you created for ...

Have you ever apologized for yourself? Your work? Your dreams? I wrote this post during a writer's workshop this week from a prompt about apologizing. The response has been fantastic..so I am sharing it here!
I will no longer apologize for myself. I just won’t. Apologizing for myself has always been a sick way of saying, “I’m going to knock myself down first so you can’t do it before I do.” A pathetic game of tag to the bottom of ...

In a world of "Big Pharma" it's nice to know that ancient Hawaiian canoe plants like Olena (also known as turmeric) can help with most Western diseases by simply being a powerful anti-inflammatory. Also, you can make some kick butt curry from it! Check out more info and a famous local recipe from  +Hawaii Coffee Connection
History of Tumeric in Hawaii In the language of Hawai`i, `olena means yellow. Dyes from these roots were used to color tapa cloth. Young roots were steamed to provide a light yellow dye and the ste...

I love tumeric and what it does for me. It's one of the most potent herbs in my "medicine" cabinet that I also use on my foods.

If you grew up in the Silicon Valley, you may remember the mustard fields. I wrote a story of memories of playing in the fields with my friend almost 40 years ago. Mostly gone now, I hope for a day to lay down again and smell the flowers while looking at the blue skies there again.
Yellow mustard flowers surround me. I am hidden. I am free. My friend Aimee and I have come to our favorite orchard about a half mile from my house in San Jose. We bring cardboard and blankets. We walk into the middle of the ...

Ever thought of moving to #Kona   #Hawaii  ? I am writing a book about moving here with lots of links, resources and goodies for a smooth transition to the island. Looking for folks who want to buy their book early, so I can finish the project and get it out by the end of the summer. 18 chapters thus far....it's really good..really.
Aloha!  I am almost done writing a book on how to move to Kona, Hawaii successfully, but I need your help to finish my masterpeice!  Interspersed with the how to's, links, contact information of everything from moving companies, vets, schools, job sites, etc there are stories from our own persona...

65! Doing Cartwheels and making a difference. Love her!
The activist is being forced to stop by officials, who call her cartwheels a nuisance.

Introduction
I like to think I am defined by my passions- writing, connecting people, blogging, photography, sharing life on the Big Island, being outdoors, and soaking up every little bit of life each day as much as possible. I live life in appreciation and believe in abundance. I volunteer for events and organizations that make my soul sing and organize events that help others. My motto is, "Be the change you wish to see in the world". My children and husband are the light of my life and they help me live with the "Aloha Spirit" each day. I am blessed.

Holding a bar of Kona Natural Soap in the shower is like having an at-home spa experience. The soaps smell amazing and with the natural seeds and exfoliants in the soaps, it is a treat each day for my skin! Kudos to the owners for offering an amazing natural product!

Thanks Big Island Honda for seeing the value of supporting local events like the Big Island Chocolate Festival! Without local business support, events that benefit charities and the local community would not exist. Mahalo for your kindness!

Ron sat down with my husband and I and explained the mortgage process and what we needed to do to get ourselves in a position to obtain a home loan. He set us up on a path to homeownership. Ron has an amazing breadth of experience with home loans in Kona. Great guy!

Lance Owens, a Realtor with LUVA Real Estate, helped my in-laws sell their condo in Kona. He did such a great job, I then referred him to my friends and they loved his warm personality and dedication to getting their house sold and for finding another, their dream home. The staff at LUVA are very helpful, as well.

Working with Lew Whitney and Karin Cooke to help raise funds for the Kokolulu Farm and Cancer Retreat so people affected by cancer can attend a healing retreat has been very rewarding. They have an amazing base of healing professionals, an organic farm and a space for people to get the rest they need so they can heal. Hawaii is a healing island, and with good peeps like these working to provide a variety of modalities to help people get the help they need..AWESOME sauce!
