This year's Aeronautilus Award for the best short story, awarded at Festival fantazie, went to Hanuš Seiner for his "Pod spinodálou" ("Under The Spinodal Curve" - and if we're lucky, the English translation will appear in the foreseeable future!).
I'm currently working on even more translations, thanks to the great people on Patreon! www.patreon.com/julienovakova

Interested in central/Eastern European SF? Then this podcast by Science Fiction Bokhandeln is for you! Most of it is in Swedish, but an English interview with me starts at 1:00:25. I talk about inspiration for "To See The Elephant" and "The Ship Whisperer", history of Czech SFF, new Czech stories in English translation, Rachel S. Cordasco's SF in Translation blog, and Czech novels that would deserve a translation into English.

Z astronomického tábora na konci srpna vypadl vedoucí volnočasu. Najde se tu někdo, kdo by měl zájem? Znalosti astronomie/kosmonautiky u volnočasáře rozhodně nejsou podmínkou, i když jsou výhodou. Jde o klidný malý tábor (kolem 25 dětí), kam už třetím rokem jezdím jako vedoucí odborného programu. Zároveň zbývá ještě šest míst pro děti!

Yesterday's gathering at the British Embassy in Prague was splendid, and our FameLab Czech Republic group is set for more science outreach both here and internationally!

Also, my author copies of Futuristica Vol. II have arrived! My story is about music, autism, augments and unexpected consequences. Check it out!

What has yours truly been doing for the past week? Helping out with a concrete Sun for a planetary trail, assisting at Charles University's Faculty of Science stand at a science festival, and observing nyalas in the Dvůr Králové zoo (just wait for the pictures!). Now, sitting on a bus back to Prague, I'm preparing my Patreon page launch for tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Hanuš Seiner's "Hexagrammaton" has received a great review at Quick Sip!

"I love the layers of the story... ...in that power comes the ability to reach forward, to right old wrongs, and to hope brazenly against the constraints of what is expected. It’s a beautiful story that changes with each reading, with each new interpretation, and it’s an amazing experience. Definitely give yourself extra time with this one to perhaps read it more than once. You won’t regret it!"
