The Republicans quietly work to weaken democracy:

“This bill would kill the one federal agency charged with upgrading our voting systems. At a time when the vast majority of the country’s voting machines are outdated and in need of replacement, and after an election in which foreign criminals already tried to hack state voter registration systems, eliminating the EAC poses a risky and irresponsible threat to our election infrastructure.

“Destroying the presidential public financing program is also the wrong step for America. On the heels of an election in which Americans made clear that they are unhappy with the influence of big money over our politics, Congress should strengthen, not scrap, the system.”

I"ve added the Met Opera radio broadcasts for 2016-17, if that's useful to anyone:

These two valiant ladies are walking the length of the California Coastal Trail to raise awareness: to complete the promise of the trail, formed by the 1972 vote which created the Coastal Commission to preserve public access to the coast.
They invite you to meet up with them for a day hike, join them for a beach cleanup, and/or follow the adventure on their blog.

We are adding members to Google Groups (using Google Groups for Business) as email groups for users outside the domain (members of the organization, but not with domain accounts). We're using the "direct add" method, since in my experience, getting people to accept invitations is like pulling teeth, particularly when many members find computers daunting to begin with. I knew there was a limit of 100 per day, but I thought this was 100 per group. But we're running up against the limit, instead, per user adding. With 1200 or so members, and two of us doing the adding, this is going to take a while, even though we split up the list into smaller groups to avoid this problem. Does anyone know if it's possible to change that limit? It makes Groups hard to use for communication with large numbers of members.
