Mother’s Day is not just a day to celebrate, but be celebrated. To make Mother’s Day entertaining enjoyable for the hostess as well, I’m excited to share a few “almost effortless” entertaining ideas and my favorite mimosa recipe in partnership with Teleflora. Whether you’re celebrating with your mother, daughters, sisters or friends I want to make it as easy as it is beautiful to host Mother’s Day brunch, even for mom herself. http://julieblanner.com/strawberry-lemon-mimosa-recipe/ #recipe   #mothersday   #easyrecipe   #mimosa   #signaturedrink   #cocktail   #celebrate   #entertaining

This past weekend, we took a few days to enjoy nearby Louisville, Kentucky for the Derby kickoff festivities. Over our 4 day getaway, we tried several mint juleps – I was determined to like them. I’m not much of a bourbon girl, but I really wanted to get in the spirit. I tried one last mint julep at Churchill Downs just before the first race and finally realized what all the fuss was about. This plain and simple mint julep tasted better than every sip I had tried before, proving once again, sometimes simple is simply the best. http://julieblanner.com/kentucky-derby-mint-julep-recipe/ #recipe   #recipes   #mintjulep   #cocktail   #signaturedrink #kentuckyderby   #easyrecipe

I always knew our breakfast nook had potential, but it’s taken nearly two years to bring it to life. For me, the breakfast nook is one of the most important spaces in our home. It’s where the girls’ day begins, chatting over bowls of cereal and fruit, and where we come together as a family in the evening. I always envisioned lingering around the table long after dinner, talking about our day and playing board games. It’s fun to bring that vision to life, creating a space to spend quality time with our family and entertain friends. Truthfully, I just wanted to share a few glimpses into Isla’s third birthday party. It is so fun to see how your child thrives when they take center stage for a day. Let’s just say that she wore her crown proudly. Anyways, you know me, despite my best intentions, I’m always last minute. Here are my tips for throwing a last minute birthday party. http://julieblanner.com/last-minute-birthday-party/ #birthday   #birthdayparty   #diydecorations   #celebrate   #spring   #entertaining   #birthdaycake   #tipsandtricks

Marshmallow ice cream, like most of my ice cream recipes, only requires a few minutes hands on time, 3 ingredients, and a few hours of patience while it sets. It blends beautifully with my chocolate ice cream and is also perfect for dipping peanut butter cookies.  http://julieblanner.com/marshmallow-ice-cream-recipe/ #recipe   #summer   #icecream   #homemadeicecream   #marshmallowicecream   #dessert   #dessertrecipes

We decided it was time to explore nearby cities when we have an extra day or two to getaway. While not as accessible as the Northeast, there are several great cities within a 4-5 hour proximity, including Louisville, Kentucky. We had so much fun on our visit there last weekend that I want to share with you! Who knew 3 days in Louisville could be so much fun? From the moment we entered the city, we could feel the resurgence they’ve been experiencing over the past few years. There are so many things to do, but I have a few I highly recommend if you just have a few days. http://julieblanner.com/3-days-louisville/ #travel   #family   #kentucky   #kentuckyderby   #louisville

As exciting as it is, summer is quickly approaching and I feel completely unprepared to fall out of routine. I look forward to spending days at the pool, exploring our city and outlying areas, vacationing and just plain relaxing, but first, it’s time to prepare. It’s time to get organized. See my organizing tips and tricks here! http://julieblanner.com/10-ways-get-organized-summer/ #organization   #tipsandtricks   #home   #homeimprovement   #homedecor   #organize   #summer

Some days call for a margarita and not just any margarita, but a fresh, made from {almost} scratch homemade margarita. Truthfully, there is no substitute. I have yet to find a mix that stands up to a fresh, classic margarita. The best part? I can make a pitcher in just 10 minutes. http://julieblanner.com/homemade-margarita-recipe/  #recipe   #recipes   #margarita   #mexicanfood   #margaritas   #cocktail   #signaturecocktail   #easyrecipe   #signaturedrink

When we started discussing the garage, my husband jumped on the opportunity to create an outdoor running closet for his gear. It may not seem like much, but having a little spaces that function well can keep your house in order. He installed a shelf and hooks and added a basket while I’m rejoicing that this previous unused/underutilized corner in our garage will help us maintain a more organized home. http://julieblanner.com/outdoor-running-closet/ #garage   #organization   #storage   #closet   #runningcloset   #diy

Warmer weather always encourages me to eat fresher and healthier. I keep salads simple and fresh. There’s no sense using a bottled dressing that has half the flavor for a savings of just 30 seconds. That’s right, you can make this dressing in just seconds. Pour, shake and toss! Homemade lemon vinaigrette keeps several days when stored refrigerated in an airtight container, perfect for weekday lunches.  http://julieblanner.com/lemon-vinaigrette/ #recipe   #recipes   #salad   #skinnyrecipe   #spring   #summer   #springrecipes   #summerrecipes   #vinaigrette   #lemon   #arugula   #arugulasalad   #homemadevinaigrette   #saladdressing   #mothersday   #easyrecipe

We met with 3 roofing companies before selecting Peak Performance. While slightly higher, we felt more comfortable and confident with them. Without question, they looked at a neighbor's roof to get the same color/shingle that we liked even though it's not what they typically use. They were prompt to call, follow up and and answer and questions we had and stand behind their work.
