The Red Flame Hunters will be out on Mardi Gras at 9 a.m. They will start in the 1800 block of Elysian Fields Avenue in the 7th Ward and end up under the overpass on Claiborne Avenue and St. Phillip Street. The tribe also parades St. Joseph's week during Super Sunday.

Brand and reputation are tightly linked but not synonyms. I raise this because I seem to be having more and more conversations where brand projects are being renamed as reputation projects to make them more “palatable” internally. That in itself says a lot about what senior management think brand is and why they believe it’s not what they need.

I have been working in the field of brand marketing for many years and have been lucky to partner with many good and great agencies, but the luckiest partnership for me has been working with Slover and Co. I was hired on during the construction phase of a resort. Within a few months, my boss was asked to part ways with the company, leaving me with a huge project and no institutional knowledge. Together with the partners and representatives of Slover and Co, we rolled up our sleeves and managed to pull of a feat of greatness! Truly, this had to be the most exquisite collection of brand marketing insight, messaging and collateral. Then, when we thought we couldn't push them any further, we asked them to step in a create a beautiful website that was not only reflective of the brand but the Visionary behind the brand, Steve Wynn...in a weekend. If I had the chance to do it all over again, I would only do it in partnership with the team of Slover and Co!
