This is a Jordan Curve rendering of my profile photo. I came across the concept of a Jordan Curve today via 's post here https://plus.google.com/u/0/+KevinKelly/posts/VaPWXEQmZvr and have always loved mathematical art; the abstract, the chaos, the perfection. Commenter was nice enough to point me towards StippleGen http://wiki.evilmadscientist.com/StippleGen a free piece of software for taking images and crunching them into Voronoi diagrams (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voronoi_diagram), and Jordan Curves based on TSP (travelling salesman problem) calculations to minimise the path of a continuous line between points.
This image was made with StippleGen by simply opening my profile photo in the program and tinkering with the parameters until I had something I thought was okay. The image below contains a single continuous line that optimises the path between 7,003 points or vertices.
What other examples of mathematical art like this do you know about?
