Wow, it's hard to know where to begin, there is so much to say about Arrowmont, what an amazing place it is, not only as a place to teach, but as a place to learn, create, and meet other artists wh...

A peek into Pokey Bolton's new creative retreat location in Napa, opening next year. This is going to be a fun location for workshops!
Last week, my daughter Indigo and I drove out to Napa to visit my friend, and founder of the Quilting Arts empire, Pokey Bolton, to help her with her new business venture. Pokey is building a fanta...

A teaser, a tutorial and a temptation with acrylic inks, I hope you'll join me
Oh my gosh, what could be more wonderful than crisp cool mornings, fall colors, and uninterrupted creative time in the Great Smoky Mountains for a whole week! Sounds like heaven to me and it's comi...

Watch the master at work! My daughter Indigo painted this Hannibal portrait in photoshop and has time lapsed a recording of it so you can see the whole process from blank screen to finished art
I was starting to feel out of practice painting in Photoshop so I figured it was time to paint something again! I decided to go with Hannibal (big surprise) I wanted to show you all how I paint with a...

You can now learn everything I know about painting textiles with acrylic inks and teach in my workshops in my new book: 10+ Techniques with Acrylic Inks. There's a print version, or an ebook, if you want instant gratification. :-)
I wrote, designed and self-published  Creative Alchemy, 10+ Techniques with Acrylic Inks, as a supplement to my Acrylic Inks class, with the intention of eventually writing other books in a series ...

The key to happiness is all about perserverance and perspective, and thank goodness I can make art as a way to process my feelings
Believe it or not, that's the title of the quilt I just sent off to PIQF for the show on October 16th -19th. I originally started this quilt for the Dinner@8 exhibit called Reflections, but I was s...

I'm not sure I've ever met a paint I didn't like
Recently I used acrylic inks to bring new life to a couple 'finished' pieces that, to put it simply, felt unfinished. I really love the way they look after adding a larger, more colorful, image. Ea...

Loved seeing my Chitown friends again and showing others that stuff we throw away (like tea bags, napkins, dry cleaner tags...) can be potential fodder for making beautiful art
I flew to Chicago to give 2 lectures and teach a day and a half Tea & Ephemera workshop for the Prairie Star quilt guild in St. Charles, Illinois. Before heading out to the burbs, I reunited wi...

Creative Alchemist
Introduction

I’m an International award-winning mixed media textile artist, traveling globally to teach painting and mixed media techniques on fabric and lecture about my creative process. I received my BFA in graphic design from The Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design, but found my true passion when I began working with textiles.

One part gypsy and two parts visual alchemist, I travel to new places, opening up new realms of possibilities for my students by revealing endless ways to combine paint, paper and metal with fabric and the sources of inspiration we all too often overlook in our immediate worlds.

Bragging rights
I don't like creepy men who add me to their circles!
