Breaking Bad Marfa - West Texas

When you get the photography fever you drive 8 hours one day to one location. Sleep in a hammock under a tree when it's 52 F with jeans and a hoodie then drive back the next day 8 more hours back home. It was worth it if you ask me.

This was a road trip to shoot with the Ricoh Imaging Pentax 645Z 51MP Medium format camera. I'm a huge fan of the details that this camera can capture.

Sunny Side Up - Marfa, Texas

The things you see in Marfa. The locals said if you want to see the famous Marfa lights to drink some whiskey before. That seems to be the only way.

Introduction
I grew up as a tour guide in the Amazon, Venezuela and this sparked my interest in photography. I would watch photographers during our tours staging pictures of my everyday surroundings of caves, plants, and wildlife. A few years later, I moved to Texas. I got married, then came the kids, hobbies, and all little stresses and joy that comes with life. After the dust was settle, I began to look for a night time hobby. I started doing still life Photography when the family went to bed early. Portraiture came later when my kids were around the house and cooperating with the Photographer. Taking images of my kids really brought up my passion for portraiture.

I'm also the founder of Drink and Click, which is a Social Photography group with chapters in over 25 cities. Check www.drinkandclick.com

What Gear Do I Recommend?

Softlighter II 60". By far the best modifier I've used. Light is soft and big, so you can use this baby anytime. I prefer to use it during Drink and Click events since it covers a large area.  It does a wonderful job at getting a beautiful soft light at your subject. http://goo.gl/N3SvHP

Fuji X100S: $1299. This camera is wonderful. Yes, this is my drinking camera. I leave my Nikon D800 at home for the money maker situations. Plus I don't want to splash a rum on and coke on that one. The Fuji X100S is a great camera capable of challenging low light situations. The results is a clean low noise image without the fancy huge gear to carry around. Love the Fuji X100S. http://goo.gl/CBkRP0

Youngnuo Triggers: $47.99. These trigger have never let me down. Hey when I started to do flash Photography I didn't wanted to spend a huge amount of money on triggers. I purchased these Youngnuo and I've never had any problems. They take double AA batteries and the have a huge range. Plus they work with a bunch of other cameras, so you can pass it around with your friends so they can shoot too. http://goo.gl/LNrwyF

Youngnuo Flashes: $69 Hey, I love Nikon and I'm originally a Nikon boy but I switched from Nikon flashes to Youngnuo 560 II and 560 III. These flashes go to 1/128 power and they zoom like the big money flashes. Why spend >$400 on a flash when you can get these awesome little flash. http://goo.gl/xQaxRZ

Families. Do Not Take Your Kids to Carrabba's at Research Boulevard, 78759. They Take So Long You Will Have to Make Magic Tricks to Keep The Kids from Melting Down. Here is the deal. When you have families in your restaurants you should be aware the kids are like a ticking bomb. This doesn't mean you should put their order ahead of others, but when you have to wait over one hour for their meals things start to get a bit rough. Our salads took 50 minutes. Our appetizer about 45 minutes. The kids got their meal after an hour. They ate it and wanted to head outside. Mom and the kids went outside almost after one and a half hours. I asked the waitress for the manager. She asked him to come but after 10 minutes he didn't show. I decided to walked over to him and told him that our salad took 50 minutes and the kids meals over one hour. I compared to other tables, which got their meal quick, so it wasn't a restaurant wide problem. The manager's response was "I've been busy here at the window" "What you want me to do?" "You want me to buy you a round of drinks?". He pretty much didn't care what a customer had to say. They took $10 off the bill and handed to me. Too bad Carrabba's doesn't care about families experiences. I would be taking my business else where.

Great food and great atmosphere. This bar is the one for dinner, drinks and a great spot to sit and relax. I had the grill chicken & bacon Panini and it was delicious. I highly recommend this one. We attended a Drink and Click Austin,Texas event here and the staff was awesome. Must visit.

We met at Javelina Bar last night with Drink and Click™ ATX and everyone is so happy with the food, the setting and service. I got there earlier for dinner and order the Miga Burger. This burger comes topped with an egg and tortilla strips. One of the best burgers I had here in Austin. Definitely if you are in Austin and are a burger lover, you need to come try this. One more thing I tried was the Javelina eggs. These are amazing. They are hard boiled eggs wrapped on sausage and fried. Think of devil eggs but 1000 better. The 69 sauce that comes with it is delicious. Best thing about this place is that the kitchen is open until 1:30 am. This bar is located on the South area of Rainey street which it makes it a more relaxed bar and a great option from the North Rainey street bars. We will be coming back to this place not only for the drinks and relax setting but also for the food.
