Project-based learning that is in tune with embracing successes and failures provides a better approach to grasping complex situations, including scientific inquiry.

Students participate in the same basic ways that scientists would, with activities organized by important “driving questions” that are relevant in science but also meaningful for kids.
An encouraging new report describes preliminary, first-year outcomes from a study of 3,000 middle school students that shows kids can, in fact, learn more in science classrooms that adopt a well-designed, project-focused curriculum.

I don't usually show off my dinner, but I make an awesome burger. Slow-grilled and lightly smoked over apple wood on the Weber with extra sharp cheddar, tomatoes from our garden, special ketchup, nestled on a toasted brioche bun. You can't get a burger like this anywhere but my backyard.

Yes, I do a lot of staring at the screen when I code. Usually to the sound of non-lubricated, grinding gears in my head.

The teachers get it, but the education system is not listening. The traditional classroom needs to change as students' needs and cultural upbringing changes.

Want to know why small business is dying and Internet retailers like Amazon are flourishing? Buy something from a local source like, Synergy Datacom. I ordered a $155 part (plus $13 shipping, size of a wall outlet) on December 10th. It was the wrong part so I had to return it (December 18th). Reluctantly, they took the part back with a 25% restocking fee, which from my brief searching on the Internet, is high because most businesses only charge %15. After I returned the product to the local shop I had to make several calls to get a status of the returned merchandise and received one email from the rep during this time stating that they were "working on it." On February 3rd, I received receipt for the original cost of the item minus the 25% restocking and shipping (both ways, $25.44 total). I won't get started on how they can't figure a tax credit properly on a return. This is why small business gets a bad image, because local outfits can't support the local consumer anymore. The local small business consumer gets the short end of the stick. I could have purchased the same item on Amazon, received free shipping because of the cost of the item, and then returned it, for free; and in less than two or three days. Remember, I paid for shipping to PICK THIS ITEM UP from the store and return for a second trip to start the return process. #smallbusiness #synergy #fail #lessonlearned #whybuylocal
