Also for sale:
Qâf ق is an intriguing letter, which crops up in significant places: as an isolated letter in the Qur’ân, or as the name of the cosmic mountain, the pole of the world, that is the goal of a long journey in Attâr’s Conference of the Birds. This piece is made out of a single sheet of paper, painted and cut, then assembled to create subtle changes in level until it reaches its peak at the centre, evoking Mount Qâf and the seven valleys that must be...

My latest drawing tutorial on Tutsplus:
In this last session before we start putting faces on our characters, I'll be introducing flexibility. Flexibility is the ability to stretch a joint to the limit of its range of movement, aka "how joints can and cannot move". This material gathered from my own martial art and flexibility training is not frequently covered in books on drawing the human figure, but it complements the muscles in understanding the body in motion. It's also necessary ...

An amazing dish to start the year.
Manti are dumplings popular all over Central Asia, across which they were carried by the Mongols all the way to Cilician Armenia in the 13th century. There are various ways of cooking and serving them, but what I present here is the Armenian version, which is the one known and loved in Lebanon.

Small originals to scoop up!
The Arabic language is not fond of abbreviations, but we do have the fascinating إلخ , equivalent of Latin “etc”. Reflecting this, the design is based on a traditional harmonic pattern of Islamic geometry, that can be extended indefinitely. The words are oriented so as to create a rotational movement in a specific direction (that of reading, spearheaded by the golden dots), and each square is cut out and its corner lifted to reveal a flash of con...

The flats I viewed with Trading Places were of a noticeably higher standard than what I viewed with other local agencies. Once I found what I wanted, the process of finalizing things and moving in were surprisingly smooth and quick, less than 2 weeks between viewing and moving in. Jamie and Rosie were very professional, friendly and helpful, and I feel secure knowing I'm dealing with this agency as long as I live here.
