Most of the attention has been on 2 recent SpaceX attempts (https://plus.google.com/u/0/+MalthusJohn/posts/HgNKoa4oUgP), and of course, ESA got into the action with their Philae Lander (https://plus.google.com/u/0/+MalthusJohn/posts/bQjZWQ2T5y6), but yesterday was the end of the competition to land a full-scale rocket after flight.
Blue Origin, a company owned by Amazon and Jeff Bezos, built their vertical-takeoff, vertical-landing (VTVL) rocket called "New Shepard" (a hat tip to Alan Shepard, first US astronaut in space) back in 2006. Their aim is to create and service "Space Tourism".
