Food for thought if you are choosing a career in music, pick Blues and avoid Rap and Hip Hop!

This lovely graph shows the average age of death of Male and Female musicians by music genre. It has really interesting insights.

Did you imagine Gospel would be lower than Country (or Jazz)? World Music seems to have long lived female musicians.

Any student of correlation-causation will look at this carefully to separate out if the music is the cause or a certain type of personality that takes to that type of music or the environmental variables at play. Lots of interesting things to think about! (Murder accounts of 6% of all deaths in the sample, but was the cause of 51% of the deaths in rap musicians to date.)

The Cook family are not just homeschoolers but unschoolers. They don’t prefer homeschooling simply because they find most schools too test-obsessed or underfunded or otherwise ineffective. They believe that the very philosophical underpinnings of modern education are flawed.

How One Social Entrepreneur Saved 100,000 Lives
www.forbes.com

Jenny Bowen, founder of Half the Sky Foundation, has helped save the lives of more than 100,000 orphaned children in China.

My wife and I had dinner there the other night. For about $350 we got enough food for three people, maybe four, which meant I left completely stuffed since my wife isn't very helpful in those situations and I can't let good sushi go to waste. And the sushi was good, and the service was great, although we arrived right at 6 pm and were the first ones there so admittedly the staff didn't have anyone else to attend to. But they were genuinely friendly and seemed quite pleased that we tried to communicate in Cantonese. My favorites--grilled eel, grilled salmon, California, tuna and avocado, udon noodles.

Great salads. 203, 204 are great. Actual service, napkins on tables. You notice these things in Hong Kong.

Great lunch buffet, very affordable, good service, clean place. I'm on a vegetarian kick and it was perfect for me. Just remember that first floor in Hong Kong means the floor above the ground floor. Finding the entrance can be a bit tricky, but it's there.

Very fast service despite being lunchtime with no reservation. Reasonably priced. And I'm no sushi snob so all I can say is it tasted great to me. Would definitely go again.
