Being an artist, I have printed some of my recent works at the print center in our local Staples. Overall, the print quality was good, but there were odd, unexpected color variations from the original images, though they had been prepared in the CMYK color palette. I chalked this up to a lack of understanding on my part.

Today I called Staples to get a quote for some printed materials needed at work. In the course of the conversation, the print associate informed me that though I had prepared the signage/posters in CMYK, I would be unable to print them in CMYK. Before I could question the paradox, she elaborated. Staples Corporate offices allow the print centers to use only Photoshop Elements, which has no CMYK image support. Everything opened in that program would be converted to the RGB color palette prior to printing, at which point the printer will convert to CMYK.
Being the print center of a major business/office supplier, I expected differently. The print associate echoed my incredulity.

This fully explains the color variations I'd seen in my own printed works. I will now be looking elsewhere for my own printing needs...

The Falcon is flying up the exhaust of an Executor-class Super Star Destroyer. It appears to have crashed upside down, but look closely at the engine configuration and you'll see it.

This is a fine article.
Until I read the article, I did not know about this terrible Obvious Child movie. I hope that it does very poorly in the box office. That might send to Hollywood a message that America is quite tired of its "progressive" agenda.
Here’s the first clue that a romantic comedy won’t be any good: it’s a romantic comedy. The second: it’s about abortion. Well, not abortion abortion, as Whoopi Goldberg might say. More like “abortion.”  Abortion — the real kind — is reductive, destructive, and degrading, whereas Continue reading →

Young Justice could be revived by Netflix!

According to the article, they're reviewing the streaming stats on Netflix. Anyone interested in the show's return is urged to watch it and hit social media with the hashtag #renewyoungjustice.

The animated projects based on DC Comics' vast stable of characters are more than often great. One of the best of these was Young Justice, a fresh and matu

As an avid Star Wars fan, I've spent countless hours reading books from the Expanded Universe (EU). When Disney announced Episode VII, they also stated that the EU would be replaced with the new canon.
To myself, and thousands of others, this meant that the time we'd spent reading (and in the case of the authors themselves, writing) EU material was wasted effort, as none of it means anything to the continuity of the Star Wars universe anymore.

While I will read the new novels (the first of which will be released on 9/4/2015), and likely enjoy the new trilogy of movies, the EU is still an interesting universe, and I'd like to explore it further. The Fate of the Jedi series had imposed some dire circumstances on the Star Wars galaxy, and Disney's plans gave a premature ending to many hanging plotlines. The Sword of the Jedi series was highly anticipated, and was in development when Disney took over.

I recently came across this petition on change.org, and signed it myself. Whether you are a fan of the EU or not, I would ask that you sign it, so that those of us who are avid fans can at least continue to enjoy the universe in which we are so invested.
In 1991 Heir To The Empire was released and marked the start of the Star Wars Expanded Universe. This rekindled the fandom and helped it to grow bigger than anyone could imagine. Hundreds of book, comics and graphic novels have been released since, making up 30 years of Star Wars history. Earlier this year it was announced that the Expanded Universe would be rebranded as Legends and was deemed non-canon. No more books would be published in this...

Watching American Ninja Warrior...I've always been pleased with the support competitors give to each other during their runs. It adds a bit of camaraderie to it.
Well, at the St. Louis qualifiers, about an hour into the 2-hour event, Michelle Warnky gave the course a try. Bear in mind, until this season, no woman had ever completed the qualifying course, and any who came close failed at the warped wall obstacle. In the Dallas qualifiers, Kacy Catanzaro became the first woman to complete the course.
So...back to St. Louis, and Michelle Warnky's run: she reached the warped wall, and while getting ready to run the obstacle, the other competitors were chanting "Deshi deshi basara basara"...

Nerds of the Nolan trilogy will recognize that from The Dark Knight Rises as the chant from the prison scenes as Bruce tries to climb out.
So, while watching a competition that requires complete body fitness, the nerd in me gets a bit of excitement, too. Plus, the chant helped, because Michelle surely did "rise" above the warped wall.

Credit to +Karen Knight for catching the chant.

Three, I think: Dallas, St. Louis, and Venice Beach qualifiers have already occurred.
I've been watching re-runs on Esquire Network. Does NBC still have the rights for the new episodes?

The food is excellent and always has been. No other BBQ establishment can beat the Stroud's BBQ Nachos. Some have imitated, but none have come close. One problem is that the place is so liked at lunch that there is hardly ever a place to sit.
