While it's all well and good that they're encouraging a greater minority presence in IT, what about boosting age diversity? IT is known for being rather ageist, preferring the 20 something recent grad over the 40 something, recent grad or not.
A pair of Bay Area programs look to give people from underrepresented groups new pathways into the tech industry.

Have any of your patients had their hearing aids chewed by their dog, or dropped their aids down the drain? Here are some great tips for patients on what to do when a hearing aid disaster happens: http://goo.gl/yc2exs

Been waiting on this for a while, but I finally got my free year of Netflix code from the Samsung Promotions last month. Had to upgrade to the Note 5, which made me eligible for several promotional offers. Unfortunately, they got slammed with everyone doing that, so I only just now got the promo code.

Now hopefully the other promotional offers will get approved as well. ;-)

Many of these tips apply to hearing impaired (yet not Deaf) people such as myself.
Christmas is a special time of year, but for deaf people, it can also be a tricky time, because we often find ourselves with people who are not very deaf aware. I still remember one Christmas when …

This is currently making me laugh. Inadvertent humor is sometimes the best.

The Book of Kells available online, courtesy of The Library of Trinity College Dublin.

https://tcld.wordpress.com/2013/03/15/book-of-kells-now-free-to-view-online/

"The Book of Kells transparencies, originally captured by Faksimile Verlag, Lucerne, Switzerland in 1990, have recently been rescanned using state of the art imaging technology. These new digital images offer the most accurate high resolution images to date, providing an experience second only to viewing the book in person."

It's from a few years ago, but I had missed it!

Duh...
There is no way of doing math where Obamacare works. None. Period. Saddle the country with debt like this and it breaks its back. When the country spirals out of control, your obamacare insurance will be worthless anyway.

(Analysts said Obamacare will chase more workers out of the labor force over the next five years, adding pressure to an economy still struggling to spring to life more than seven years into the Obama recovery.)
The federal government will be flirting with $30 trillion in debt within a decade, the Congressional Budget Office reported Monday, blaming an aging population, new spending and tax cuts approved on Capitol Hill, and the growing burden from Obamacare for erasing the progress Washington had made over the past few years.

This looks potentially interesting. Had to watch it with the sound low in case there were especially violent sounds my four year old might get upset over (I think that wasn't necessary with this trailer in retrospect), so I didn't get the full effect, but it did look interesting. Worth a watch of the first episode at least.

I find that pretty much everything in this article applies to Android Wear as well. I'd gone for years without wearing a watch, and now I'm wearing one all day long. One that's much larger than any I've ever worn.

Why? Read the article for some of the reasons.

Taking the plunge on my Nexus Player and doing the Marshmallow OTA right now. Opens up the USB port, among other things, so maybe it's time to install an emulator or two and fill it with games.

Injecting insulin to treat type 1 diabetes may become a thing of the past
"Off-the-shelf" insulin-producing cells could be a simpler and potentially safer way to treat type 1 diabetes than using stem cells

Introduction
Grew up in Washington State, attended private high school, got Associate's degree, then a BA with distinction in Linguistics from the University of Washington, got a job. Fast forward a few years and moved to Michigan, married my wife and have a wonderful little boy.

Oh, and I'm a hypnotist, a writer, poet, I like to sing, do martial arts, etc. I'm currently employed with a day job while working on getting employed in a field that's something I like and am good at. Like, say, writing. Or graphic design, website design or desktop publishing.

And hypnosis on the side, unless it grows enough to be a full time business. ;)
