"So, the next time you come across some clever quote on Facebook about what kind of parent you should be, take a moment to notice what kind of crap the crazy monkey in your mind is flinging, and then let it go. If you’re still hanging in there with your children, waking up each day and struggling to do the best you can to connect with them even when it’s hard, then you’re raising your kids right. Whatever that means, anyway."

My wife +Carla Naumburg's book reviewed in +Parade Magazine !!! (This is especially exciting because they published my favorite bit of parenting advice, "Don't give a happy child ice cream," by the always awesome Jack Black.)
Mindfulness is having its moment. It’s heralded—all over the Internet, in magazines and bookstores—as a panacea for this modern madness we call life. Which is why Carla Naumburg, PhD, a social worker by training and a parent by fire, chose not to include the word “mindful” in the title of her new book, Parenting in the [...]

This is the last coffee shop in Newton Highlands so I wish I liked it more. But the coffee is really no better than Bread and Chocolate down the street (Nespresso and drip), there's less seating, and the baked goods are only OK.

Good neighborhood bakery with coffee, breakfast, and lunch. When the weather is nicer we try and sit outside, and we almost always run into friends - it's fun to pack a bunch of kids onto the long bench, quiet them with a few loaves of banana bread, and catch up with friends. It would be a great place to sit and get work done (quiet on weekdays between morning and lunch rush) but sadly they have no Wifi and no outlets.

Man, I love this place. Inventive, well executed cocktails. Fun bar food. And dinner is always a treat. It was the first time my wife ever liked brussel sprouts.

Great little "gastropub" hidden inside an old drive bar. Our driver and my colleague were both skeptical based on the neighborhood and exterior. But once we got our first two items (skirt steak sliders and Mac & cheese arancini) he was sold. Those ended up being the two best items other night, but we also had black bean sliders, mushroom flatbread, beer cheese with pretzel bread, butternut squash stuffed arancini, beer nuts, and a dessert special of waffle batter funnel-cakes. Good beer list and I enjoyed the whiskeys. If you're staying near the airport, well worth the trip.

What a disappointment. We always end up coming here (it's so convenient! it's always open!) but the food is no good and the service isn't great. But they do have 100 beers on tap (even if they won't let you order a flight).

This is a fairly standard motel complex - a set of two-story buildings with doors opening directly to the outside. My room seemed fairly large - probably due to the removed kitchenette during a prior conversion. Linens were fine, walls/rugs/furniture were a little beat up but serviceable, toiletries were unusually nice. There is a free breakfast hot breakfast which was entirely adequate but nothing notable. My first room was very loud with street noise and the HVAC didn't work. They were quick to switch me with no trouble. The second room was still loud (from guests walking around and talking in normal voices) and I had to reset the HVAC but it was fine. And I did receive a very prompt and thoughtful note back from the manager when I shared my experience.

Small store but great selection of spirits. Had some questions about Mezcal and they treated us to an impromptu tasting. Service was so good didn't mind paying the premium prices.
