Economist at UBC's Vancouver School of Economics
I am an assistant professor in the Vancouver School of Economics at the University of British Columbia. I completed my Ph.D. in economics at Harvard University in 2012 and study public finance. In particular, my research focuses on health care, urban economics, and real estate.

My research has been published in the American Economic Review, Brookings Papers on Economic Activity, and Journal of Economic Literature. It is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and was previously supported by the National Institute on Aging through the National Bureau of Economic Research. The Washington Post recently summarized some of my current work here.

I won the National Tax Association Dissertation Award in 2012.

Basic Information
Kristina shot my wedding in Vancouver in May, and did a tremendous job. She was both a pleasure to work with, and produced excellent photos. On the wedding weekend itself, she was lots of fun and always enthusiastic about our (sometimes crazy) ideas. While some other photographers seem to have a rigid approach, Kristina made excellent suggestions--and then deferred to our decisions. When one important member of the wedding party got confused about the time and was extremely late to the photo session (ahem), Kristina went with the flow and kept us relaxed and on track. Kristina’s beautiful photos reflect this approach and show the wedding in our style, as the personal and unique celebration that it was. They exhibit tremendous production and artistic quality, while keeping the focus on us, and our event. The pictures emphasize our story, exactly as we had hoped, rather than emphasizing themselves. This is what wedding photography should be. We are thrilled with our choice to hire Kristina and recommend her to anyone else interested in wedding photograph. Looking at her work brings back so many happy memories. Thank you!
