I would like to see an app that can generate call to action buttons while listening to the audio file, and I guess I don't know why it hasn't been done.

As an example, in the Startup podcast, Alex mentioned being able to easily buy the book that was talked about in the podcast he was listening to. Perhaps a set of ID3 tags that are ignored by incompatible players, but recognized by this app could be used.

When the app recognizes the appropriate tag included in the file, it generates a call to action button based on the data in that tag (or set of tags). It could be time coded as well so the button even appears at the right time. Smartphone browsers can handle the links.

If we can display author, title, and cover art, why can't we display other relevant information? Seems like that would be something that would be very useful to both audience and author.

This is a good story looking at A.T. Robertson. This photo of him at his desk is great. One of the things mentioned in the story was how he wrote a 3 foot tall, handwritten manuscript and had to pay for the typesetting himself because his handwriting was so bad.

The Windows Phone 8.1 update made some changes to how the phone handles podcasts.  Podcasts are no longer part of a single audio player with music, but are in a separate app.

The app will now play podcasts at 1.5x and 2x normal speed, if you like that kind of thing, and there is a favorites list so you don't need to scroll alphabetically through your entire subscription list to find what you want to hear.  Also, you now find and subscribe to new podcasts inside the app instead of going through a podcast link in the Windows store.

The error messages that had for some reason become very common when trying to play podcasts are gone, as well.
