A Heaping Helping of Hepburn's Choice - the 2015 K&L releases - The Whiskey Jug http://bit.ly/1AYHzOq
Hepburn’s Choice is a NDP who selects and bottles mostly single casks of whisky. My favorite shop here in Los Angeles (K&L) just got in a big ole shipment of them and I managed to get myself samples of each from a friend. After getting the samples I did a little looking around on the interwebs …

Created as a stopgap for the 07 shortage of GD8 -> George Dickel Cascade Hollow Whisky Review http://bit.ly/1yktjyb #Whiskey #Tennessee
George Dickel Cascade Hollow was introduced in 2007 as a stopgap to help alleviate the shortage of George Dickel 8 that started to happen around late 2006. This shortage was largely a result of the distillery being shut down from 1999-2003 due to a combination of supply exceeding demand and a wastewater issue. Though it …

The FIRST release of High West's own #whiskey! -> High West Valley Tan Review http://bit.ly/14M2dpR #Utah #ParkCity
alley Tan is High West’s first release of their own aged whiskey. It’s 100% their own distillate and is the aged version of their Western Oat Silver Whiskey which is a pretty tasty little dram in it’s own right, but aged it’s pulled on a whole new persona that’s even better than it’s spry youthful …

Well... it's... it's a #whisky -> Black Velvet Reserve Review http://bit.ly/1Dq5bOV #CanadianWhisky
I remember the first time I had Black Velvet Reserve. I was in a casino in Wendover Nevada 7 or 8 years ago for a buddy’s birthday and when I asked what he wanted to drink he said “Black Velvet 8″ so I grabbed a bottle from the casino store and by the end of …

Liked the NAS better, but still tasty -> Trader Joe's 8 year Irish #SingleMalt Review http://bit.ly/1xBmQ2y #Whiskey
When I heard that Trader Joe’s had brought back their Irish Single Malt I was excited until I got to the store and immediately noticed something different… an age statement. Last year’s Trader Joe’s Irish Single Malt was a NAS whiskey and it was fantastic, I loved it and even though they claim it was …

The Soft Red Wheat is one of the first 2 bourbons in the Jim Beam Harvest Collection. What is the Jim Beam Harvest Bourbon Collection? Well it depends on who you ask. I’ve seen some folks say that these are the result of an experiment for substituting the rye if it became scarce or too expensive …

A lighter, crisper, fruiter dram -> Laphroaig 18 Review http://bit.ly/1xXnSGh #SingleMalt #Scotch #Whisky
What can be said about Laphroaig that I haven’t already said? We all know that I love Laphroaig and this 18 year version is no different and shows off a whole different, softer, sweeter side of Laphroaig who’s typically known for being a big blustery and smoky whisky. The kind of whisky that feels like …

The grandchild of Royal Glen Dee -> Chivas Regal 12 years Review http://bit.ly/1BIOITO #Scotch
Chivas Regal traces it’s roots back to the 1850s when the Chivas brothers, who were grocers, started blending different whiskies to create something that was smoother and more palatable to their customers. This first proprietary blend was dubbed Royal Glen Dee and was basically Chivas Regal’s grandfather. If this story sounds familiar, that’s because it’s …

Don't judge a #whiskey by it's label design -> Fighting Cock #Bourbon Review http://bit.ly/1FnTmLh #KickinChicken
To be completely honest I’ve been been putting off trying Fighting Cock Bourbon because the bottle looks like Christian Audigier’s attempt at minimalism. For my eye it’s just not an appealing design but it has won awards for exactly that further proving that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Due to this preconceived …

Much better than the red wheat Jim Beam Brown Rice Harvest #Bourbon Review http://bit.ly/1wNyaDQ #Whiskey
Jim Beam Brown Rice Harvest Bourbon is the second half of the initial releases in the Jim Beam Harvest Bourbon Collection. To see a full rundown of what the collection is and a teensy weeny rant about the marketing behind it check out the Jim Beam Red Wheat review. There’s 3 paragraphs of info and …

It's the mexican version of a Subway. Choose your carbohydrate based vessel (tortilla, torta, shell, etc.) choose your meat filling and then your toppings. Nothing fancy, but it tastes good and is cheap. In this area it simply can't be beat for the price point.
