Woody as hell, but that's kind of it's thing -> Jim Beam Devil's Cut Review http://bit.ly/1hJBXiQ #Bourbon #Whiskey
When whiskey is aged some of the liquid in the barrels is lost to evaporation, this is called the Angel’s Share, but some soaks into the wood and stays there. Beam has coined this the Devil’s Cut; which is where the whiskey gets it name. So how does Jim Beam go about creating their Devil’s …

Sweet smoky & savory -> McCarthy's Oregon #SingleMalt Review http://bit.ly/OPpsGG #Whiskey #PDX
The McCarthy’s Oregon Single Malt is another bottle of whiskey I picked up on my trip to Portland, and man am I glad I did. It’s smoky, it’s sweet, it’s savory, it’s robust it’s… it’s just plain delicious is what it is. It’s made in the Islay style and if you’re looking for something to …

Not bad for a #SpiritWhiskey -> WhipperSnapper Oregon Spirit #Whiskey Review http://bit.ly/1ekoxKD
Whippersnapper is a spirit whiskey and, if you remember from the Kansas Clean Distilled Whiskey Review, to be considered a spirit whiskey the beverage in question must have a grain neutral spirit content of more than 80% but less than 95%. I also mentioned in that review I had a favorite spirit whiskey that had …

Brine in your #bourbon? -> Jefferson's Ocean:Aged at Sea Review http://bit.ly/1lLlUnj #whiskey
I wanted to be writing this and calling bullshit on the process. I wanted to say that the whole thing was a marketing gimmick and that Jefferson’s Ocean tasted like a normal 6-8 yr bourbon, that there were no hints of salt or brine and that it’s trip around the world on an oceanic research …

Wonderfully balanced & tasty as hell -> Rittenhouse Rye 100 Review http://bit.ly/1hDPRyI #Rye #Whiskey #BiB
Rittenhouse Rye 100 (bottled in bond) is among the best whiskeys you can buy in the $20 – $25 range. It’s just plain magnificent. The nose may be a tad weak, but the flavor, finish and balance completely save the day. Rich in flavor and full of complex notes that run the gamut from sweet …

A light & aproachable #rye, but not my favorite -> Jim Beam Rye Review http://bit.ly/1eF8xxw #Whiskey
Jim Beam rye is one of my least favorite ryes. Clocking in with the bare minimum mashbill of 51% rye it feels like a phoned in effort to hop on the rye whiskey band wagon. It doesn’t feel like a fully thought out, realized or appreciated vision and comes across rather lackluster. There is a …

A step up, but miles ahead of it's little red brother -> Johnnie Walker Black Review http://bit.ly/1oQdyNn #Scotch #Whisky
Johnnie Walker is synonymous with scotch. Walk into an average bar, order “a scotch”, and that’s what you’re going to get. At most open bars, weddings, work events and the like they have this; The Johnnie Walker Black. One step up from the red, but miles ahead from it’s bottom shelf brother. A blend of …

Funky, marshy & not among my favorites -> Jura 10 yr. Review http://bit.ly/1qm0k6t #Scotch #Whisky #SingleMalt
Let’s just get this out of the way right now… I am not a fan of Jura 10. Are there other Jura’s out there that are delicious? Sure. Superstition is tasty and their 16 yr is also quite nice. This however I’m having troubles finding something to like about it. It’s one of the few …

Each batch is made from just 10 tasty barrels -> George Dickel Barrel Select #Tennessee #Whisky Review http://bit.ly/1jRVws0 #Whiskey
The George Dickel Barrel Select is pretty tasty stuff and with each batch being made from just 10 hand selected barrels you’re going to get a bit of variety in your bottle from batch to batch. Not nearly as much as you get with something like a Four Roses Single Barrel, but with batches blended …

Stunningly tasty stuff ->@TheGlenmorangie 10yr Review http://bit.ly/1fnAH02 #Scotch #SingleMalt #Whisky
Glenmorangie 10 is some seriously tasty stuff. Labeled as The Original, this flagship offering from Glenmorangie shows just how good a baseline offering can be when you take your time to craft a quality product. It’s light, fruity, malty and has depth of flavor that is hard to beat at its age and for its …

It's the mexican version of a Subway. Choose your carbohydrate based vessel (tortilla, torta, shell, etc.) choose your meat filling and then your toppings. Nothing fancy, but it tastes good and is cheap. In this area it simply can't be beat for the price point.
