- Statesman TravelHead of Digital Communications, 2013 - presentSimply put, I try to help connect the dots for our travel group and our travellers through my love of technology and educational background in psychology. If you need more detail, read on. My role varies a great deal, but has two central themes – the first being the creation, trial and adoption of new and innovative technology across our group that benefit both us and our clients. Being one of those millennials who is actually a little obsessed with mobile technology (hint: not all of us are) it’s a way for me to use that passion to positive effect. This has led to speaker roles and interviews for the likes of the ITM Conference and Buying Business Travel Magazine on subjects such as Gen Y (a label I dislike immensely) and augmented reality. In the last 3 months alone at the Statesman Travel Group we have: • Launched new websites for Statesman Travel, Ontourz and Masterfare (our TMC, tours and flight consolidator companies respectively). • Launched a new enterprise social network across our international network, enabling frictionless collaboration between regions, countries and departments whilst helping minimise email, conference calls and internal travel spend. • Adopted a new and collaborative approach to project management and implementations using mobile tools, seamlessly keeping us and our partners informed whether they are in the office or on the go. The second theme to my role lies in telling our company’s story. It’s both a privilege and a challenge to communicate why we do what we do, across multiple platforms and in a variety of ways. Being human and doing things personally is a big deal to us, so ensuring that exists throughout our traditional marketing efforts, web presence (www.statesmantravel.com), blogs, and social media is one of the best parts of my job. If you have an interest in travel and know a lot (or a little) about it then get in touch. We're always looking for smart people to contribute to our communications on our blog and other platforms.
