Experimenting with Debian this weekend. Good to be free of Ubuntu's Unity desktop. Yes, I know I could just keep Ubuntu and uninstall Unity, or use XFCE/LXDE. And I have used Xubuntu and Lubuntu in the past. At the moment, I'm looking to expand my horizons a bit and hunting around for a distro that's not a *buntu. Debian's great, though I miss *buntu's more up-to-date repository.

What are other people's favorite Linux distros? I'm hunting around for one that's easy install and keep up to date, but isn't flooded out-of-the-box with useless bells and whistles. Xubuntu would be fine, but I'd like to explore my options.
