Saw Beats, Rhymes, and Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest last night. With all the drama that preceded the movie, I thought I'd never get to see it. Now that I have, I have a much deeper respect for the era so many of us grew up in. I was telling +Kevin Lantigua how we used to bump ACTQ in his crib when he was much younger, thinking just how cool they came off. The music hits me still in ways people forget how to do these days. I also found Bob Powers' comparison of The Beatles' Sgt. Peppers' Lonely Hearts Club Band, because the Tribe Called Quest comparisons are uncanny. ATCQ was the Beatles' for our generation. Great individual musicians, but even more so as a collective. We're still feenin' for the flavor ...
