Barcelona lacks many of the key features of innovation hubs such as San Francisco, New York or London, namely substantial talent pools, an ecosystem of venture capitalists, fast fiber-optic broadband, and tech companies the scale of Amazon or Facebook. Moreover, the government hasn't implemented tax incentives to stimulate investing in startups.
However, a Barcelona based startup is the first initial public offering of a Spanish company on the Madrid stock market since the country emerged from recession. It seems that Spanish startup culture is slowly changing for the better. And that is a good thing #startups #ipo
