Product UX + Content Strategy at Facebook. Introvert by nature, feminist by choice.
Introduction

Hi! I’m Jonathon Colman. I’m not ignoring you, I’m just introverted. Despite this, I’m a Webby Award-winning UX content strategist at Facebook, the social network. Yeah, I’m surprised by that, too.

Previously, I was the principle experience architect at REI and managed global digital marketing for The Nature Conservancy. I also served overseas in the Peace Corps (Burkina Faso, West Africa: 1999-2000) and worked in conservation nonprofits for almost a decade.

I’ve spoken at over 70 tech events on five continents and earned a master’s degree in Information Management from the University of Washington in 2013. I also studied Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and technical communication at Michigan Technological University.

All of that makes me a nerd, but don’t worry—I’m one of the good ones.

You can find me on Facebook or Twitter @jcolman. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my wife, Marja Huhta and our dog, Prim (a.k.a. #bestdogever).

I did another in-city move with Adam's Moving & Delivery Service and it was just as good an experience (if not better) than in 2009. The estimate was accurate, the movers were friendly and efficient (even funny!), and they were extremely careful with our furniture and paid a lot of attention to details like how we marked boxes and what rooms they moved out of and into. An excellent experience and I'll definitely keep turning to Adam's for moving in the future. Special thanks to Will, Anthony W, BC, and Kyle H for their amazing work!

Really enjoy taking #bestdogever here. She's a big, 85-lb. rottweiler mix and they handled her with love and care. She can be especially skittish about having her nails trimmed, but the staff here were friendly and patient with her. All that for a very reasonable price! I (and #bestdogever) will be coming back again soon!

My wife just left here in TEARS. She's had appointment for over a week to deal with a painful eye issue that's interfering with her ability to drive, work, and function. But apparently the eye doctor with whom she had the appointment decided to retire. Which wouldn't have been a problem, except that the West Seattle-Highline office staff didn't do anything about it. They. Did. Nothing. At. All. The office staff never reached out to my wife to inform her that the appointment they set just over a week ago was cancelled, even though they had her phone number and contact information. So she showed up expecting to have an appointment and solution for her pain and left with... nothing! The office staff couldn't transfer her to another doctor and said that the rest of their doctors were booked through the end of next month. WTF?! My wife had to stop work to come to this appointment, and that's the least of her concerns since she's in constant eye pain right now. What's wrong with this place that they treat their customers this way? The worst part is that my wife's been to this clinic before and had a good experience the first time. Well, she's not going again, that's for sure. DO NOT GO TO THE WEST SEATTLE-HIGHLINE EYE CLINIC. I refuse to support any business that FAILS so hard on customer service, especially for people who are in pain and need help the most.
