After a year and a half of running 13th Age the only part of the core rules that I felt needed fleshing out were those beginning of session Icon relationship rolls. I'm lucky enough to run games for an extraordinarily creative and self-starting pool of players, but there was always a sense of weird haggling and trepidation when they wanted to use their Icon dice for their own benefit, even after 30+ sessions.

I cooked up this simple rules hack (with printable cards) for using Icon relationship rolls as a currency while still sticking to the core improv and shared narrative spirit of the original rules. A big thanks to +Hannah Craig for testing these out with her group!

I hope that you guys find them useful!

I'm thankful that I got out of my comfort zone to write some prose for the +Iconic Podcast's first contest. They asked us to explain exactly what happened between the White and the Wizard King before the Ages began. I liked what I wrote enough to share it myself!

The write up is about half story and half GM hooks. I list a few possible angles for integrating such a mythic confrontation into a game already full of One Unique Things and Icons, a few exotic locations for adventuring seeds, and a new magic item (because I can't help myself).

Finally worked up the guts to share a custom monster! I answered today's D&D 40th Anniversary Blog Hop prompt not only with a sappy Valentines Day answer but also with a +13th Age version of one of my favorite monsters: the succubus.

I'm really proud to have kickstarted Ryuutama. This tabletop RPG looks like one part Dragon Quest, one part Studio Ghibli, and one part Do: Pilgrims of the Flying Temple.

I believe this was posted to this community when it first started, but the Dragon Kings Kickstarter is officially successful! The 13th Age rules supplement is the next stretch goal, just $5k away with 17 days to make it. I'm looking forward to playing Dragon Kings in either of the already supported systems (Pathfinder and Savage Worlds) but 13th Age would be my preference.

Dragon Kings is the spiritual successor to Dark Sun by the original creator. If you guys like being anti-heroes that are so badass that they don't care that they're shirtless in the desert, you gotta back this thing.

Bionic Dues promises a robot-customizing dungeon-crawling roguelike romp, but does it deliver? Dorkadia was given a preview copy and here's what I found.

Easily the best thing that's ever graced Dorkadia Press's digital pages. Penny Arcade's last fuck up causes Reuben to draw a line in the sand.

I was swept off my feet by +13th Age  last year at PAX. If you're a fan of table top rpgs and you're headed to PAX Prime, seek these guys out.
For the next 4 days you can come play +13th Age at PAX. We have games starting almost every hour at Games On Demand. Look for the Archmage and Diabolist banners on the 2nd floor (we will be at the far end from the escalators, if you look down one floor from the coffee place and gaze to the left we'll be there).

#PAX is a ultimately a giant mixer for nerds. It's worth tearing yourself away from the jumbotrons of the expo floor to hang out with friends (and make new ones!) in the Table Top Freeplay areas.
