This frightening and nauseating video was taken early this week on board a vessel taking part in the around-the-world Volvo Ocean race, as it encountered rough weather in the tumultuous Southern Ocean.

The MAPFRE team's vessel did an involuntary "Chinese gybe," also known as a "death roll," while located about 2,000 miles from the nearest landmass.

Two other teams did Chinese gybes on Monday into Tuesday, according to the race's website, in gale force winds and high seas, causing damage to some of the boats but no injuries.

Would deploying a sea anchor, with boat about 40 degrees into wind have prevented the death rolls?

"Stop pooping on bike path." - the newest sign in Hampton, Illinois.

And while many interpret this as a warning to dog owners, the message is actually meant ...for humans.

#germanwings #depression #mentalillness #planecrash
News reports are focusing on the Germanwings pilot's possible depression, following a familiar script in the wake of mass killings. But the evidence shows violence is extremely rare among the mentally ill.

#germanwings co-pilot had been sent on medical-leave by his doctor the day before the suicide/mass murder

Lufthansa - the parent-company of Germanwings -  bosses confirmed Lubitz had taken several months off work and had to retrain to join the firm, but insisted he was '100 per cent fit to fly' after passing all medical tests.

They said that among the items found at Andreas Lubitz’s home was a doctor’s note excusing him from work on the day of the crash, and another note that had been torn up.

The co-pilot, named as Andreas Lubitz, a 28-year-old German national from Rhineland, was alive when the plane hit the ground, as revealed by a "breathing noise" from the recording. +Jonathan Rosenfeld It's better that it isn't religious related. Mental illness is a problem and it don't usually end up killing this many people without religious overtones.. I hope they figure out what was wrong in his head. Yes to checkups for pilots. Fir sure
