I get a lot of emails about how I handle my healthcare while I am traveling. I am not saying this is the right way, but here are a few answers.

Photo: Abandoned Bangkok Theater Turns Into Makeshift Restaurant #travel #asia #streetphotography

One of my favorite things about Bangkok, Thailand is being able to see all of the different faces it presents. A few months ago I had an overnight layover and decided, instead of spending the evening at the Lebua SkyBar, to go wander the streets around…
For street-photography, I find Bangkok, Thailand one of the most compelling places on the planet and Chinatown is always showing new and different faces.

Photo: Sunset at the Parthenon in Athens, #Greece #travel

I have been furiously going through the images I took on my recent trip to Turkey and Greece to put on and I wanted to get a few more on the blog. I can’t begin to describe how amazing Athens was. I was such an interesting mix of ancient and modern. You…
I had seen it in many photos of the Acropolis and the Parthenon in Athens, Greece, but I had no idea how much more impressive it would all be in person.

Turkish Cooking Class in Cappadocia #cooking #travel #turkey

I admit it — I am a foodie. I think well-prepared food is a high art as worthy as painting, music, and sculpture. But, I am not an elitist. I think, with proper attention and care, street food, barbecue and home cooking can be as sophisticated as that…
Turkish food is AMAZING. You can’t ever truly know a culture without experiencing the complete palate of its food and a cooking class is a great way to start

Who cares if it as sophisticated, +Jonathan Look Most of the time if it prepared with attention and care it is just as delicious, if not more so.

You really can't comprehend the strange beauty of Cappadocia, in the Anatolian region of central Turkey, until you see it from the air in a hot air balloon.

Did India meet my expectations? It surpassed them! Do I feel that I know India? Not even close. To me, India remains an enigma that must be seen.

It distorts reality, beats common sense into retreat and replaces it with a reactive deluge of upsetting emotions. #travel #fear

It is 9:20 PM and we are standing on the platform in the one track train station in Pyay, Myanmar. To get here Sarah and I have walked, with our luggage, almost an hour, down gravel roads, in the dark, because we were told that there “should be” a ten…

Photos: and Video of Hot Air Ballooning in Turkey! #travel #turkey #ballooning

Besides staying in a cave hotel, another thing I wanted to do in central Turkey, was to go hot air ballooning and photograph the amazing landscapes of Cappadocia from the sky. I had been hot air ballooning once before in Houston and loved it, but I always…

What is it Like to Stay in a Cave Hotel in Turkey? #travel #turkey #uniquehotels

When management of the Taskonaklar Hotel, a boutique “cave” hotel located in Cappadocia in the Anatolian region of central Turkey, asked me to stay with them for a few days I didn’t know what to expect. Before I left for Turkey, many friends told me that…

Story
Tagline
“Why sip life from a straw when you can gulp it from a fire hose?”
Introduction
In 2011, at the age of 50, Jonathan Look decided to change his life and pursue adventures and his passion for writing and photography instead of comfort and possessions. His goal is to travel the world; one country at a time, one year at a time. To accomplish this he got rid of most of his possessions, packed up what little he saw as necessities and headed out. His goal is to spend ten years discovering new places, meeting new people and taking the time to learn about them, their values and their place on this tiny planet. He embraces the philosophy that says a person is the sum of their experiences and rejects the fraud of modern consumerism that makes people into slaves of their consumption. He doesn't intend to be modern day ascetic, just more mindful of his place in the world and to make decisions according to that new standard.
