Laura Compagnoni 1959 - 2012

In the late 1980's, I encountered an Italian woman who had come to Boulder to get her master's degree, something I was working on the time as well.  It didn't take long for us to realize that we wanted to spend our lives together.  We set out on that task, sometimes with better success than others, but, after well over two decades, we were more tightly tied to each other than ever.

Breast cancer just broke that bond.  I feel like a part of my own being has been torn out of me; who would have ever thought that the world could feel so empty?

Thank you, Laura, for having transformed my life.  I miss you incredibly, but part of you will always be with me.

Here is a picture taken less than a year ago.  How different things looked then.
