OK...day 11 of bale conditioning.  Problem is, I haven't followed the schedule exactly and it's been a pretty cold spring. We've had one or two sunny days total...the rest have been 40's and 50's.  So the barrel water I've been keeping for warm water hasn't been exactly warm.

The first few strands of 14 gauge wire are up, with more coming later.

The problem I have this week is we need to leave town for a family emergency on Wednesday and we have some strawberry plants, etc that really need to be planted.   If the bales are not 100 percent ready, could I still get away with some planting?

Hi folks! Can anyone here point me to a chart of optimal frequencies for retaining specific qualities, such as learning, etc?

Folks, I'm looking for some advice.  last weekend I went down with the flu.  I've been slowly recovering, but my lungs are very bad:  I have a nasty cough, and I'm discovering (much to my chagrin) that I have an awful wheezing that is making sleep very difficult, so obviously I have some fluid in the lungs.  Plus my 6 year old daughter who loves me and tried to take care to me in my sickness is now coughing as well.

I am looking at natural ways to treat this via some qigong, some basic steam and essential oil type therapies.  The qigong is basically stuff from Master Lam Kam-Chuen's "The Way of Energy" which is a lot of standing postures and his version of the Eight Pieces of the Brocade...so ok, those are my ideas to attack my lung weakness at the moment, but does anyone else have any ideas for techniques that I can try?

Also I'd like to mention that over the last two Winters I've noticed that my lungs have been noticeably more vulnerable to congestion and cough, plus I've been snoring and wheezing for months, although I'm not always aware of it of course., so I suspect this latest crisis is realistically more of a culmination than a sudden problem for me.

Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm thinking of getting back into green lemonade; I tried juicing for a while but I think the cleansing symptoms got unpleasant, plus I got tired of my wife complaining about fruit flies in the kitchen :)

I'm struck by Christie's proposal to lengthen both the school day and the academic year. How is this in any way supposed to improve student outcomes? I think it's just a thinly disguised attempt to create state run 9-5 ”camps" so that parents can more easily work their day jobs.

After all, isn't 6 hours/day incredibly ample for learning just about anything, especially considering the limits of the human attention span? I mean the actual concentrated conceptual learning process and fact memorization capacity is a limited asset for all of us, and especially children. So what is the logical grounds for forcing kids into even more soul crushing conformist training?

And while I'm on the subject, what is happening in our 6 hr/day schools that necessitates take home homework at all?

And the supposed remedy for all of this is just even more of the same? Isn't that just state sponsored insanity? And why do most people just support it uncritically?

I have to agree with you. Working with little kids (even some older ones) the attention span just doesn't do well with long hours like this.

Hello, world.  -

I am feeling somewhat depressed about this. I'm not an expert programmer type so I don't know what to make of the statement: "The technical issues regarding consistent low latency audio performance on Android are still a show-stopper for a ThumbJam kind of app..." You mean I can never get this type of app for android?? Maybe my ITard friends were right all along....?!

Would someone more knowledgeable than I set me straight here?

Hi folks. I'm picking up some bales tomorrow.  I'm looking forward to trying this approach.  I'll set them up on our patio area (we live in an apt complex, so I need to make them look as pretty as possible).  I'll take pictures and probably ask questions here and there.

Thanks!

My wife was diagnosed with mastocytosis last year. The doctors have her on various horrid drugs (side effects include insomnia, irritability, and just general wonkiness). I can't help wondering if a simple anti inflammatory diet would be a better path than the drugs....thoughts?

It's interesting that you would mention environmental toxins, because she grew up in a house a couple blocks away from an Exxon refinery

Can someone help me out here? This is a paper chock full of gobbleygook that purports to point out falsities in the assumptions of Austrian economics.  I can't seem to generate the fortitude to wade through this thing, plus honestly since I don't have an economics degree that I could use to place most of the references, I'm just out of my depth.  Could someone de-jargon this and give me the general gist of the arguments?

+Warren Dew no need for rebuttal I make sure not to answer a 50 page or so lifelong reflective paper on Austrian economics and the incorporation of its teachings in neo classical economics in one simple example.
I still haven't met an academician or "economist" that can explain to me why the hell do we still reason under equilibrium and rationality hypos? Exactly...
Caplan is an anarchist, don't expect thought and order in his writings, even though his mind is Brilliant.
Writing a blog post on ordo liberalism and the Freiburg school now, and on all the debates within the Mont Pelerin society. Surely century long debates can't be resolved I rebutting one example.
