A State of Bliss - 01/2018

The past few months have been a busy time for us all, including me, the one making the State of Bliss updates. We have quite a bit to show for it though :) Bliss OS has not only released alpha builds for mobile devices and PCs, but we have moved into beta builds now as well. Making constant improvements to the OS and device compatibility, squashing bugs, and trying to implement a few tools to help us help our users.
We have included an AboutBliss app that is letting us bring our world of development and services to our users and hopefully offer an easier way to donate towards the project. If you would like to make a donation towards Team Bliss/Bliss Family, we urge you to use the Friends & Family option from PayPal. This assures that no fees are taken from the transaction.
Another new addition to the OS comes in the form of a Bliss Statistics app that will help us identify Official & Unofficial installs, as well as provide a few metrics to potentially help us figure out what devices are having issues. Please don’t worry about us collecting any personal info, that is not at all what Bliss is about. We will only be collecting minimal stats about the hardware Bliss is being booted from. A Statistics App is being worked out and it will be available soon in the next couple of weeks or less. This is all so we are as transparent as possible with our practices.
As for our releases of Bliss OS this round, we have another big move for our users in store. We now have a centralized space on XDA Developers forums ROMs Central, so here I present to you, Bliss ROMs Central HUB: https://forum.xda-developers.com/bliss-roms Here you will find discussions, Q&A’s, and Development threads for all of our official releases. So far we have Oreo alpha/beta releases for:
Hammerhead (https://forum.xda-developers.com/bliss-roms/bliss-roms-development/rom-bliss-rom-t3725742)
Bliss OS for PCs (https://forum.xda-developers.com/bliss-roms/bliss-roms-development/x86-bliss-x86-pc-s-t3534657)

While a couple of our legacy devices have threads there as well.
Bliss 7.3 for Kenzo (https://forum.xda-developers.com/bliss-roms/bliss-roms-development/blissroms-blissroms-v7-2-official-kenzo-t3581942)
Bliss 6.4 for ZTE Warp Sync (https://forum.xda-developers.com/bliss-roms/bliss-roms-development/rom-blissrom-v6-4-zte-warp-sync-n9515-t3559728)

On to other news, Bliss Family has finally entered the final stages of filing for our 501(c3) nonprofit status, and will be hearing back on that eventually within the next few months. And on our business end, Bliss Studios is getting off to a great start. With two locations, one in Mesa, AZ and one in Grand Rapids, MI. and a few potential clients lined up and in talks about development. We also have a few apps heading to the Play Store soon… keep an eye out for updates on Bliss Launcher, AboutBliss, and all the other app projects we can’t divulge info on just yet.

There is also news regarding Bliss OS for PC. Recently, we found evidence of paid projects outside of Bliss Family using our hard work without bothering to keep attribution or credits to us or the original authors. This is not acceptable to us at Bliss. We strive for innovation and to push Android forward. When others take it upon themselves to not only raid our repos for solutions and re-author those solutions as their own, but then to charge for their services or releases based on our hard work, we have to take a stand. Due to this, and the attention Bliss OS for PCs has been getting from potential investors, we feel it is best to switch our PC builds to a private repo for development.
This doesn’t mean that we won’t be releasing the source. It means that for the time being we are keeping the source behind closed doors, and when we are ready, we might decide to release the source for the previous release. So in light of this change, we have removed sources from GitHub for our Oreo 8.0 & 8.1 branches. This has been done to help protect our intellectual edge as well as our potential investors piece of mind.

As far as contributions go, Bliss OS is still open to outside contributions via http://review.blissroms.com and if you really have your heart set on working with Bliss OS for PCs, you are more than welcomed to fill out an application to join Team Bliss, https://goo.gl/forms/PdiaAj1PojosmehK2

Here is all the work it took to bring Bliss v10 (Android 8.1) to x86. No sound, so find some music to play in the background :)

Part of the holiday spirit is giving back what you are able to. So I'm taking suggestions on what you all would like to see in a video that helps to explain something in Android development and I will be picking from the suggestions to make a video walkthrough of it. Doesn't matter if it's updating a kernel, or how to reverse engineer incomplete features and make them work.

Let me know in the comments, and enjoy your holiday
