Just had the worst marathon of my life. Slower than my first marathon ever, which is a stark contrast from the PR I was trying to get. My legs started locking up at mile 17-18. I think it was a combination of the heat (it was 70 degrees by 13.1) and my rigorous schedule (grad school and teaching full time).
I trained hard (4 runs of 20 or more miles). Any advice for fighting that race day fail in the future?
Some days the body just says, "nope" not doing this today. You could have been fighting off a bug that was draining you. Could you have been burned out from over-training? I know, I hate that term over-training too. You'll do better next time. Hang in there. I know it's frustrating.
