True story. So many months ago I was at a craft beer bar that had a Stone Brewery tap take over. One of the beers they had was Punishment. So named because they'd taken a barrel of their regular beer and tossed in an insanely large amount of hot peppers. Now I'm a person who likes insanely hot food, so I asked for a sampler. I drank about half of it and slid it back. Sweet holy hell is it hot. Bartender said no one had managed to drink that much. So I was in the store the other day and noticed they're bottling a hot sauce made from it. It also searingly hot. All this is a long distracting way of mentioning I shamefully made street tacos with ground beef for dinner. And punishment sauce.

I drank a whole bottle of punishment the day after Thanksgiving the year it came out. Such a delicious beer. I also regularly eat the Punishment hot sauce because it is delicious and goes with almost everything. I don't consider either crime or punishment to be insanely hot. Ballast Point bloody mary mix is much hotter and harder to drink.

This is huge. I may actually take a sick day to listen to the livestream. It also means I need to pick up the pace on WoW's casual content. Still way behind on fishing, new pets, and leveling alts. Hmmm..... On rereading that it sounds like I'm being sarcastic. I'm not. Stop looking at me like that....

Good to know, though since I have been barely running Windows 7 for a year on this desktop (recently upgraded when XP was being cut off) and 6 months on my laptop I may just do an upgrade. I used to follow the fresh install only type of option but I don't know if that is really necessary anymore.

The Baja Food Festival sounds like the place to be. Estimated crowd at  only 8,000-10,000. Sounds like a bargain to me.

Mission accomplished. Non-splattered dinner. See this morning's post if that doesn't sound familiar. Grilled salmon burger with red wine sautéed vegetables and pesto. Very yummy. I really like the Costco salmon burgers. They are delicious grilled and sit happily in the freezer until needed. Not as photogenic as a fresh $15 wild salmon filet, and not as delicious, but still damn good. Also not a great photo. Pesto looks kind of grass at high contrast.

I like to use my Android phone as my alarm clock, and I have this one song I like to make my alarm noise. And I'm constantly losing it or forgetting what it is. So, posting here for all time. it's the theme song from that Heston Blumenthal cooking show. It's Bouncy enough to wake you, but soothing enough you don't wake up pissed off.

Really really really REALLY NOT LIKING the new Google Photos feature. This was clearly designed by someone who didn't actually have a use for it. The whole thing seems random and buggy as all hell. How can Google of all companies put this out lacking search and filtering feature where you actually need them? Trying to use it to post photos to G+ posts is weirdly difficult. I actually have to store my photos on my phone and post to G+ from there. It's as if the intent was just to provide a big hole where you can endlessly dump photos and never use them.

True story. So one of my goals has been to cook more delicious food that is also beautiful enough to make for great photos. And last night's iteration was grilled salmon with summer vegetables and pesto. I got it all plated nicely with a garnish of parmesan and fresh basil. But the dish was too dark on the side away from the window, so I grab a tall book to use as a reflector. Perfect. Then I grab my camera and focus the shot just as the cookbook falls over onto the dish and splatters it all over the table. /sigh

So here are some old dinners. I'll try again tonight with the grilled salmon. And get a better reflector setup.

Sure, it's a big corporate chain. But the tacos are still legit. Better can be had from the trucks and mom&pop places if you can track them down, but there should be no shame in just heading to King Taco.

This place seems to be much more about reputation than good tacos. Not bad, but also not worth the inflated prices. I don't mind waiting in line for great food, but this wasn't it. Better tacos can be found all over SoCal for half as much, with no line.
