With new and exciting phones hitting the market recently, there hasn't been a better time to explore the possibilities of filmmaking with the camera that's always in your pocket. Have you ever made a film with your phone?

Had the chance to meet Michael Clark when he demoed the +Elinchrom elb 1200 lights at #FotoCare in NYC. It was great to see a fellow photographer who was able to marry two of his passions and make a career out of it. After his presentation I had an opportunity to play around with the new lights.

This is hardly a review as I tend to stay away from commenting on products, but in the short time I had with the strobes I was impressed. I wish I could have tested it with some powder or water to really put the speed of the elb 1200 to the test, but seeing Michael's work is a pretty strong testament to its capabilities.

Here are some images I was able to create while I had the Skyport to control the strobes from my camera. Donnie Rise was a great model to work with. I got a little crazy and turned off the main light and played around with some multiple exposure shots against the black background. I'm pleased with the dramatic results.

I learned about a quirk with my canon 1dx mark II. So at first I could not shoot in high speed sync (past 1/250th). I went through my menus and could not select it. I turned my camera off then back on. Nothing seemed to work. Disappointed, I didn't want to pass the opportunity to shoot so I adjusted my aperture to make up the difference in light. Not to be deterred, I continued tinkering with my camera. In the end, I was able to resolve the issue by removing the battery from my camera and putting it back in. I'm not sure if that was merely coincidence, but nothing else worked. Fortunately it doesn't seem to be a permanent issue with the battery since I didn't bring my back up with me.

I hope this helps. Thank for reading 🖖🏽

Better to be a student than an expert.

There is always something new to learn.

Here are some of my images from the CP3 Elite Guard Camp in Winston-Salem, NC August 2017.

I made a lot of photos at Nike's Peach Jam in 2017. Thousands to be more specific. And creating my shots from the sidelines of Peach Jam is something I look forward to each and every year. There are many reasons why, not the least of which being that I feel like a kid in a candy store when I'm there. There's amazing basketball culture at every turn. From style off the court to action on it, it's like a sensory overload in the best possible way.

I don't generally post a lot of images on my social channels, but I have been wanting to share more of my work. So, I've created a photo book featuring over 100 of my favorite images from Peach Jam 2017. It's available on the App Store now and if you make it there by 11:59PM on Monday, August 7th, you'll save 50% on your download.

Gersh Park has emerged as the premiere summer tournament in the Mecca of basketball. Indiana Pacers forward Lance Stephenson laced up in his hometown and helped the Brooklyn Stompers avenge a sweep in the 2016 finals at the hands of the formidable Sean Bell All-Stars. Check out this video to see some snippets of the action.
