According to a January 2015 study by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, the average homeowners insurance premium across the United States in 2012 (the most recent complete annual data available) was $1,034. That was up 5.7% from 2011, when the increase nationwide was 7.6%. Not surprisingly, Florida had the highest average homeowners insurance premium in 2012 ($2,084). Idaho had the lowest ($538).
