It's amazing a document like this still survives!
South Carolina's oldest state government document — an almost 350-year-old deed for a lot at the original location of Charleston — is back in the state archives after a painstaking conservation.

This would be incredible! #acc   #finalfour   #duke  #unc #ncstate
If it happens, it would rank as one of the most remarkable achievements in college basketball history. Three schools, all of them no more than 30 minutes apart and in the same league, all making the Final Four?!

It's been a tough couple of days for NC teams but Duke gets it done tonight and they are elite. #ncaa #goduke

I like this hire... #49ers  #Charlotte #markprice
It’s difficult for me to envision Price failing at anything. And if he’s right for the job and Rose is right about him, Halton Arena could be what it once was. This wasn’t the school’s team. It was one of Charlotte’s teams.

"Advocates of school choice often speak of a crisis in American public education, but these newest reports indicate otherwise. In fact, both show that American public school children are doing remarkably well."

Enough with the political manipulation that calls for "school choice".
In a stroke of whimsy or irony, two new studies about American education have been released in time to get the most media coverage during School Choice Week. The first, from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), looks at the international tests that rank students worldwide in reading, math, and science.

I didn't know this existed until tonight. I know a lot of people with kids and tech so thought this might be the easiest way to share.

I don't drink coffee, so I can't speak to that. What I can say is, friendly service and a good place to hang out for awhile.

I like breakfast better than lunch or dinner. If you're into southern cooking, this may not be the place for you at lunch or dinner. If you do go for lunch or dinner, the soup is really good and comes with many of their entrees. Ask for Tabitha, she's awesome.

I went there basically looking for a specific front door. The manufacturer's website said Hoke Lumber was one of their retailers. I dealt with a salesman who acted like he could care less whether he helped me or not. I spent about 30 minutes working with him to identify the door. He finally thought he could locate one and told me he'd work on it and call me back by Monday (this was a Thursday). Monday came and went. As a matter of fact, the entire week passed. I stopped in again the following Monday. Again, the guy acted angry that he was even having to deal with me. At first he didn't even remember me, and when he finally did, he had to dig my paperwork out from under a pile of papers on his desk. He told me the sales rep. for that manufacturer had been in and they had discussed the door. He thought he could get one but would need to follow up with the rep. Again, he told me he'd call me to let me know. It has been 4 months and I have yet to hear back from the guy. I basically gave up on Hoke Lumber. Perhaps someone just looking for a single door isn't worth their effort, but I have to say I will never spend a dime in the place because of the way I was treated. Deal with them at your own risk (of your time and aggravation).

Good combination of quality and price. The steaks are good. One of the few places that has egg on the salad and the rolls are excellent.

The good: The theater is clean and the location is great. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. The bad: The seats in the regular theaters are not comfortable at all. I tend to forget about the seats once the movie starts (assuming it's a good movie), but basically the seats are too straight up to relax in. If you want a better seat, you can go to an RPX showing of your movie (which will be in certain theaters in the building). The seats are much better and the sound and movie experience is better. BUT, you will pay more. So, instead of the theater just making upgrades to their facilities every few years to keep pace with new theater technologies and to stay competitive for your entertainment dollars, they charge you extra for the better experience. Thanks but no thanks.

The best BBQ in NC. Get the chopped pork plate and be sure to get the red slaw. Don't skip the hush puppies; they're made to go with this meal.

I cannot comment on St Andrews as a place to worship; my review is based on visiting the grounds and church as an historic site and tourist attraction. The grounds are beautiful and the church is one of my favorites in Charleston. In the spring the church hosts a tea room as a fund raiser. If you just want to take in a beautiful and historic location in Charleston, this is worth the drive.
