MEDITATION Instead of DETENTION

"What would you do if you were a school teacher and your students started misbehaving? Traditionally school teachers would give detention or suspension depending on the situation."

"Most people wouldn't discipline a misbehaving student by telling them to sit down and meditate, but this new strategy is happening at Robert W. Coleman Elementary School in Baltimore Maryland."

"Since the beginning of last year, the primary school has not suspended a single student. Their new method of serving consequences is definitely working. The school decided to focus on meditation as a new way to serve detention for misbehaving students."

HAPPINESS = AUTHENTIC IDENTITY

Thinking about IDENTITY and AUTHENTICITY this morning.

"Identity is concerned largely with the question: “Who are you?” What does it mean to be who you are? Identity relates to our basic values that dictate the choices we make (e.g., relationships, career). These choices reflect who we are and what we value. For example, we can assume that investment banker values money, while the college professor values education and helping students. However, few people choose their identities. Instead, they simply internalize the values of their parents or the dominant cultures (e.g., pursuit of materialism, power, and appearance). Sadly, these values may not be aligned with one’s authentic self and create unfulfilling life. In contrast, fulfilled people are able to live a life true to their values and pursue meaningful goals. Lack of a coherent sense of identity will lead to uncertainty about what one wants to do in life."

Few things confuse (or disappoint) me more than duplicity of character. When the essence of who someone is - their words, values, actions or energy - CHANGES from circumstance to circumstance. You don't know "WHO" you are dealing with from one moment to the next.

"When people misrepresent themselves or present themselves in out-of-character ways to impress an audience, the behavior is unnatural and exhausting. "

Two things prompted this topic for me this morning; personal events in my life and considering the authenticity of our online identities when we have ghost writers/posters. Our identities online shape how people view us. If someone else is posting on our behalf - like a ghost writer/poster - who's "identity" is being associated with that online presence? Can we develop a sense of someone's true nature, their authentic character, if the words/posts did not come from them?

Just wondering...

"Knowing one’s identity accurately increases self-esteem and reduces depression and anxiety. When people are doing what they think they should be doing, they are happy."

As a young boy abused by his mother, I was just as troubled by the schizophrenic personality changes from night to morning, as I was by the abuse itself. This experience is likely part of why I strive to be as authentic and true to my self as possible, in all circumstances and with all people. Although an inflexible commitment to one's values and principles comes with it's own set of challenges at times.

"Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony" ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Our personal identity, the what and who we believe we ARE, is based on a combination of internal values, and external forms of identity we assimilate from our families, peers and culture. What we present to the world, the way we speak, act and respond to the events or people around us, falls along a spectrum with INTERNAL values at one end and EXTERNAL and cultural forms of identity at the other end.

"What constitute the true self? The ultimate goal for individuals is to develop and nurture those choices that are consistent with their true self. To deny the true self is to deny the best within us. To find more happiness in life means to live in harmony with one’s true self."

The more your INTERNAL values represent the IDENTITY you align with and project to the world, the happier and more content you are as a human being, as a person. The more authentic your identity, the more well-being you experience.

Be true to your self
And nothing else

Few do this
Many pretend
Most try

Windows 10 October Update Could Fail with Full Drive

"Full hard drives could cause an upcoming Windows update to fail, according to Microsoft, and the system will not check for adequate storage space before installing."

"The Windows 10 October 2018 update offers a bunch of anticipated features, including clipboard sync and the ability to text from your PC. But there’s a hiccup with the update process."

Social Behaviours Built into Our DNA

"What happens when you give an octopus MDMA? It sounds like a question that might flit through the meandering mind of someone who had been dabbling in psychedelics. But now the matter has become the focus of an unlikely-sounding scientific experiment to uncover the ancient origins of social behaviour."

"By showing that the normally antisocial sea creature became friendly and tactile after being given MDMA, also known as ecstasy, scientists believe they have made a link between the social behaviours of humans and a species from which we are separated by more than 500m years of evolution."

"The answer was a definitive yes: the creatures’ normal hostility towards each other vanished and they became touchy-feely. The findings suggest that the brain chemical serotonin, which floods the brain after a dose of MDMA, has been a trigger for social behaviour since very early in evolutionary history."

THIS IS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

I have been touting this since the Decade of The Brain (90's). When our understanding of the brain went from a static, gradually decaying blob after about the age of 30, to one which is significantly under our control to repair, grow or enhance as we see fit, or the need arises.

It's YOUR CHOICE:

(1) COMPLAIN every day, your brain RE-WIRES itself to find something to complain about every day.

(2) Be GRATEFUL every day, and your brain RE-WIRES itself to see reasons to feel gratitude every day.

What else do you need to know?

Realize this, enact this, make the right choice and you literally create the life and reality, you choose.

How COOL is that?

Talk about PERSONAL EMPOWERMENT

This is NEUROPLASTICITY.

"Though our brain is not liquid in structure, it is malleable in nature. This means that a human brain is capable of re-engineering itself, with us in charge! How does this exactly work? Well, it is all thanks to the process of Neuroplasticity."

"Thanks to our advanced brain imaging, scientists have discovered the process of Neuroplasticity in which a brain changes itself throughout life. This means that one can increase their intellectual quality, learn new skills, recover from brain trauma, and even unlearn bad old habits."

Ocean Living Makes us Happier & Healthier

"All of us have a blue mind — and it is perfectly tailored in order to make us happy in all sorts of ways which go way beyond relaxing in the surf, as well as listening to the murmur of a stream, or floating quietly in the pool."

"...we know intuitively that it is very healthy to be near the ocean. Nowadays, science also demonstrates that the ocean also inspires positive and creative thinking. It reduces anxiety and also promotes compassionate thinking."

"The latest research has been revealed by the scientist and marine biologist Wallace J. Nichols in his latest book, named “Blue Mind: The surprising science that shows how being near, in, on, or under water can make you happier, healthier, more connected, and better at what you do.”"

Donald Trump - Toadstool Penis & Yeti Pubes

"“He knows he [#DonaldTrump] has an unusual penis,” Daniels writes. “It has a huge mushroom head. Like a toadstool … I lay there, annoyed that I was getting f---ed by a guy with Yeti pubes and a d--k like the mushroom character in Mario Kart.”

"The former stripper, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, goes on to claim Trump's penis is 'smaller than average but not freakishly small'."
