Last year I met a guy in the queue for Hall H who had just self-published his first comic book. His comic was for sale at the convention and he was even on a panel discussing indie publishing. Today his comic went on sale on Comixology. It's only one issue and all the money he makes he's going to use to produce issue #2.
First, I'm excited to see his comic book for sale and I've bought my copy (I'll read it on my lunch today). But secondly, I had no idea that it was so challenging to launch a single issue as an indie publisher. Good on +Johnny C
for persevering and hustling. I don't recall him saying that he wanted to be a comic creator per se, but more that he wanted to be a storyteller and creating a comic seemed easier than making a movie. Either way, determination for the win!
