There's no harder lesson to learn than how to take the consequences of your actions. And there's no harder lesson to teach, either, for a loving parent. But if your goal is to raise a successful adult, you're both going to have to suffer through.

Just as we started to get delicious veggies from our patio container garden, we went on vacation...on the hottest week of the year so far. Oops. I learned an important lesson in my wannabe gardener quest.

I was supposed to be doing one thing, but couldn't get started. Instead of bingeing on Netflix or doing something else, I started looking at some of the other things I'd been procrastinating. Lo and behold, even if I couldn't get the first task done, I could work on the others and put myself in a better financial situation by tackling a few lingering items on the to-do list.
