This was several years in the making. The oak came from a couple of limbs that were trimmed because they hit the house. The maple is hurricane Juan windfall. Both were left in the shade and damp for three years to spalt. The handles are birch picked out of firewood and the drawer front is a cherry crotch from a tree in my yard.

While its not uncommon to see ice in Halifax Harbour it is to see in this late in March. In 1985 the Harbour filled when the Gulf of St Lawrence ice came in on a tide change. This ice covering the Bedford Basin formed when the wind dipped allowing the still water to freeze overnight.

A week ago I sent my #LeathermanWave in for warranty repair. Today I received a new replacement . I guess I just wore the old one out beyond repair. Thanks Leatherman for a great product and a rock solid warranty.

At any moment a tone on the pager can call any of the thousands of firefighters in Nova Scotia from the safety of their home. Our thoughts at that time are not on when will I be back safe at home. Our thoughts go to the people we have pledged to protect and serve.
Saddly here in Nova Scotia one of our brothers has answered his last alarm.
My thoughts go out to his loved ones, the department and community during this difficult time.

If you think that by adding me I will blindly add you to bolster you followers in some shallow attempt to appear popular you are sadly mistaken. Life is not a popularity contest. Be kind, play nice and speak kindly of others and good things will happen naturally on their own.
