Canberrans aren’t the only ones bracing for winter: reptiles are on the move to find the best place to hibernate, putting them at an increased risk of pet attacks and car strikes.

Usually when a shipwreck is discovered, people are excited at the prospect of finding ancient buried treasure, but beer? Recently a team of scientists diving off the coast of Finland found a shipwreck dating back to the 19th century, and is getting a taste of 170-year-old beer preserved inside.

Ester Mish’s husband gave her a pair of pythons for their wedding anniversary. The gift didn’t elicit screams or divorce papers. Rather, it reignited a passion for reptiles Ms. Mish has had since childhood, when she caught garter snakes and used them to scare her neighbors. She now has to wrestle with her urge to buy more snakes (she has 16), an urge that brought her to the Steel City Reptile Expo on Saturday. “They’re like adult Pokemon,” she sa...

"It's not a desire; it's an obsession to share my knowledge with people interested in herpetoculture."
Introduction

I currently own and operate the Reptile Apartment Group of Websites with Becky my fiancee. HerpHouseMag is a 100% Green and Subscriber supported digital #reptiles magazine. Reptile Apartment is the original site 'hatching' out later into Reptile Apartment Canada. This wasn't before 'hatching' Reptile Livingroom 1.0 which has recently become Reptile Livingroom 2.0 Live! This is a joint operation between ColdBlooded Publishing and HerpHouseMag as well as the entire Reptile Apartment Group.

I've also done some freelance work regarding reptiles and have been published numerous times in magazines such as Reptilia, Reptiles, Reptiles USA, Reptile Care, and TFH Publishing who published my original Uromastyx manuscript. I'm the former Founder of Southern California Wildlife, and am an amateur herpetologist, and expert on San Diego-based reptiles and their habitat. Additionally, I have extensive experience with exotic species from all over the world. I have worked within the pet industry for over a decade and served as Editor for the San Diego Herpetological Society. I've personally handled well over 200 various species.

My main goal is to educate people regarding #reptiles period. There's just too much inaccurate information out there. I focus on living in small environments, primarily apartments, on the unique challenges of keeping a reptile or insects within these smaller spaces. There’s an alarming lack of actionable data on this topic and a lack of information or an abundance of misinformation is impacting the quality of life for reptiles and insects everywhere.
