Holy cow this is awesome. I would like to add my voice to this choir :)

I really enjoyed JJ Abram's take on Star Trek (so far, he's doing OK in my book), but the fear of it being a Disney property is definitely strong in me.

If you haven't seen this video yet, check it out. It's very well done (animation is great, ideas are great, and it's only 2 minutes long).

Optimistic for a great new trilogy! :)

The Libertarian Party supports the fair and fundamental right of each citizen to vote his or her conscience. If you believe in the views of the Democratic Party, you have the right to vote Democrat. If you believe in Republican ideas, you have the right to vote Republican. And if you believe in Libertarian ideas, you have the right to vote Libertarian.

Unfortunately, while Democrats and Republicans claim to support voting rights, their actions suggest the opposite.

In Democratically controlled Maryland, for example, each election cycle, the Libertarian Party must collect 10,000 signatures to stay on the ballot. Recently, however, the legislature added several restrictive requirements, including the following:

If a signer does not write his or her middle name or middle initial, the signature is invalid.
If someone does forget to include his or her middle initial, that person cannot resign another form until the next election cycle, four years later.
Using these kinds of new regulations, the Maryland board of elections invalidated approximately half of the Libertarian, Green, and Constitution party signatures.

The Republicans are no better. For example, in 2012, the Republican party engaged in a 9 week assault on the Libertarian Party's right to be on the ballot in Pennsylvania. Eventually we prevailed, but not without substantial cost: releases/libertarians-prevail-against-9-week-republican-attack-on-ballot-access-in-pa

In fact, the Libertarian Party spends a major part of our budget on maintaining ballot access in each of the 50 states. This shouldn't be necessary, but due to constant legal assaults and other shenanigans by the status quo parties, we don't have a choice.

The good news: if both Republicans and Democrats (and their corporate sponsors) didn't see us as a threat, they wouldn't bother with these blatant infringements on your right to vote your conscience. Their multimillion dollar consultants believe that they should be worried about the Libertarian movement. We take it as a compliment.

How to Help Defend Voter Rights:

The most important way to help secure voting rights is register Libertarian. If we get above certain thresholds in each state, we automatically secure your right to vote your conscience. You can find your state here: contact_your_state.aspx

Secondly, you can volunteer to collect signatures in your state. To do so, contact your state chair at

Finally, you can donate to ballot access. Your donation is used to hire signature gatherers (in some states, there is no feasible way to do it all with volunteers), as well as for legal battles. You can do so by becoming a member at, or just contribute at You can write "for ballot access" in the comment section if you want to donate exclusively for ballot access.
