-- Anecdote --

A samurai once asked Zen Master Hakuin where he would go after he died.

Hakuin answered, 'How am I supposed to know?'

'How do you not know? You're a Zen master!' exclaimed the samurai.

'Yes, but not a dead one,' Hakuin answered.

-- about --

I am an expert technology troubleshooter with veteran specialties in Network Design ( Cisco biased ), VoIP and Linux. I believe that many technology problems can be fixed by doing less. Complex solutions require complex management and should only be used to solve 'outage' conditions.

Going on three decades of inter-networked computer experience from ATDT to IPv6. Communication and processes whether machine or human can rarely be understood by stopping them and analyzing the parts. Instead it is better to flow with them and adjust the whole.

Reasonably proficient: security, DNS, Internet visibility, and photography.

Non-proficient: drawing, musical instruments, and telling people what they want to hear.

" in 1989, when chemists experimenting at a nuclear accelerator in Vancouver observed that a reaction between bromine and muonium—a hydrogen isotope—slowed down when they increased the temperature, they were flummoxed."
A “vibrational” chemical bond predicted in the 1980s is demonstrated experimentally

132-Year-Old Winchester Rifle Found At Great Basin National Park

The find left park staff wondering why someone would leave their rifle and not come back? Numerous questions such as that one surround the small piece of American heritage found and recovered by park archaeologists in November.
Usually you need to head into a museum to see what turned up in the backcountry of Great Basin National Park: A 132-year-old Winchester rifle.

""Because we know a lot about the exact brain areas that control singing and learning to sing in these birds, we are hoping that our future studies will tell us exactly what parts of the brain are affected when alcohol affects speech," co-researcher Dr. Claudio Mello, a behavioral neuroscientist at the university, told The Huffington Post in an email."
Researchers conduct all sorts of strange experiments in the name of science, from studying the slipperiness of banana peels to looking at how dogs orient their bodies when they poop. And now, in the latest example of strange science, researchers a...

"When It Rains It Pours®" is a slogan created by Morton Salt to illustrate the point that Morton Salt was free flowing even in rainy weather after the company began adding magnesium carbonate as an absorbing agent to its table salt in 1911 to ensure that it poured freely; calcium silicate is now used instead for the same purpose.
Via wikipedia/reddit
For more than 160 years, Morton Salt has served as a symbol of excellence and a trusted authority on salt. Today, Morton Salt, Inc. remains a leading salt producer in North America. Our consumer products include table and specialty salts, water softening products and ice melters.
