Not gonna lie, while I'm honestly shocked about +AT&T offering discounts for customers without subsidized phone contracts I'm also extremely happy to see them do the right thing.

Being nice to people. It's not that complicated

<3

+Motorola Mobility has been running full steam to continue to blow me away with how they are putting customers first with their software.

From giving people the cleanest (and usually smoothest) version of Android available with USEFUL features, to melting minds with the speed of their KitKat update (now out for Verizon and T-Mobile users http://goo.gl/Amj5hP) to these fantastic changes for developers (despite what a tiny segment of the market they are) I've been so happily blown away again and again. I'm so glad I got to be part of the software team there this summer and can't wait to see what comes next! <3 you Moto. Keep it up

Good explanation of what ART is and what it means.

The fact android apps were interpreted (by the Dalvik VM) rather than native machine code was cited as a huge reason for the initially perceived lag in the early days. Ever since Froyo (2.2), a Dalvik has had a "Just-In-Time" or JIT compiler that led to significant speedups, but the interpreted code will still always be slower than native. I'm excited to see what the end result when ART reaches release status :D

There's a new runtime in town.

Some people on XDA[1] discovered options regarding "ART" which appears to be a more native runtime for Android applications. The link in this post shows that it's been included for early developer/partner testing, but could break normal apps at this time.
