While not currently posing an issue of duplicate content, this situation certainly piqued my interest.
Have a website which currently employs a site structure like:
*Note: Each of version of example1 is the same page
Where things start to get a little strange is that:
-Only the /product/example1/ page type is indexed in Google
-There is no canonical tag within the source of the website or whilst performing a crawl
-The CMS prompts to choose which version of the page is canonical
- Noindex not within the source of the website or whilst performing a crawl
-No URL removal requests within GWT
The search potential largely exists around 'example1' so there was an obvious fear of duplicate content.
Thanks Chris, I assumed the CMS was giving some sort of directive but the whole no canonical just weird-ed me out.
